I just wanted a thread to congratulate Rep. Alcee Hastings (D) Florida. He is now leading the fight to end DADT in congress. I don't know if any of you are watching Rachel Maddow, but he just gave the best and most concise reasoning as to why DADT is wrong for our country. I have not heard any politician or talking head speak more eloquently on the issue. It was fantastic. I hope the interview will be on youtube soon. When it is I will provide the link.

Way to go Hastings. Once again this proves you never paint any one group with a broad paint brush.

4. 50 years ago this week

Harry Truman desegregated the U.S. military by executive order. The order consisted of six paragraphs and less than 250 words. He knew it would be coldly received, but decided it was the right thing to do.

Why can't our President grow some balls, get out his little pen and order the end of Don't Ask Don't Tell? So what if there's a lot of griping. It's the right thing to do.
