What We Learned Today at DU University
Edited on Thu Jul-30-09 03:51 PM by alcibiades_mystery
1. Obama is (Not So) Secretly a Shill for Corporate Interests - As it turns out, Barack Obama is like a Trojan Horse sent in by the "corporatists" to fool progressives, all the while working deliberately to get the best deal for his corporate Masters. He first used his secret progressive-swaying power to launch the TARP - a full three months before taking office, mind you - and is currently seeking the corporatist dream of "watered down" health care reform. Because, you see, health care reform was inevitable, so it was imperative that the corporatists sneak a guy in who would promise it, while actually turning it to the benefits of the insurance companies! Ooo, you got burned by the corporatists this time, silly progressive! His means for getting the best corporatist deal was ingenious: First, he takes the single-payer system - which, being the far more radical nationalization of the health sector, would have easily flown through Congress with only a simple push from a genuine Leader Figure - off the table. Second, he sets up rough parameters rather than the gutshot approach taken by the Clintons, thereby dooming the Public Option to compromise by Committee. Oh, man, he's one evil trickster! Then, and this is the coup de grace, he actually goes out and argues for the strong public option, but does so in the "wrong medium" (according to a famous Hofstra professor), thereby increasing the seeming incompetence of it all, just what the corporatist doctor ordered! See also point 2.

2. The Obama Communications Arm is Incompetent - We also learn, despite the seeming genius of the confidence game in Point 1, that Obama's White House communications is incompetent! They literally don't know what they're doing! They shuck when they should jive, as it were, and take questions when they should issue kingly proclamations! Every Imperial President since FDR knew that you should wag your finger at the populace - it being too dumb to engage in conversation (this especially applies to the working class, which only a fool like Obama would expect to understand three syllable words or discussions lasting longer than 28 seconds!). Hell, even Bill Clinton knew that you don't even have a conversation when you're talking about having a conversation, but rather demand a conversation to happen elsewhere while retaining your purity of your imperial proclamations. The Obama White House doesn't even seem to know that. This should have been obvious to anyone, after they ran the most incompetent communications operation of any political campaign in American history. I mean, they almost lost Pennsylvania - a blue stronghold, pulling out a meager victory by only 11 percentage points. We should have known they'd botch this terribly.

4. Huh?
I call out nobody.

This is a general description of GDP for this day. Many threads, in fact, say the same thing.
