The Grand Old (Birther) Party! -- POLL: Fewer Than Half of Republicans Think Obama is a Citizen
Fewer Than Half of Republicans Think Obama is a Citizen

A forthcoming DailyKos/Research 2000 poll found 77% of Americans believe President Obama was born in the United States, 11% do not, and 12% are not sure.

Among Republicans only, 42% think he's an American citizen, 28% do not, and 30% are not sure.

1. And they call the British Conservative Party "the Stupid Party"
Good news for the Democrats that so many of their opponents are so dumb and gullible; but not good news for the USA that they still make up a sizeable part of the population.

2. Such people are too stupid to be allowed to vote
I have a dark fantasy about requiring intelligence testing for qualifying voters.

10. This is where the forefathers got it right....
They thought that people were too stupid to vote for President so they came up with the electoral college so in essence you vote for an elector for President.

What great visionaries!

They also believe that the world was created in 7 days and that it's 3000 or so years old. They just aren't real bright.

4. This is a good example of how powerful propaganda is...
As Rove believed, a constant feed of propaganda, day after day after day, will ingrain a thought into their heads that cannot be cleared without deprogramming.

Well, those are my words, but his aim.

By distributing their talking points to those in the public eye who can disperse them 24/7, they give credence to about any lie they want to spout.

It's hard to fight, but truth will win out...surely.

12. Goebels believed it, too. It's a rightwing thing; lie loudly & often, and it magically becomes
"truth & reality".

Of course, it also requires a large amount of stupid people.

USA certainly has that.

7. so 23% of general pop think he was or might have been born in Kenya
23-25% always seems to be the figure for the wingnuttiest sector of the pop.

The fact that only a minority of Republicans think he is a CITIZEN for heaven's sake, is sad beyond belief. It really is. I completely go with Bill Maher's statement to Wolf Blitzer that America is filled with stupid people.

It must be our education system?

8. Chickenshit liberals will ask, "why won't he just release the long form certificate?"
Smart liberals answer, "Why throw a life preserver to a drowning enemy?"
