President Obama. the Iraq war, the troop draw down and the economy
One thing I have not seen being posted here at DU, heard anyone talking about on the MSM or in my own personal social circles. Is the one biggest reason why President Obama can not end this war very quickly.

The Bush/Cheney administration insured that this war would last for years by doing several things. They pushed outsourcing, HB1 visa's, helped shelter companies moving manufacturing to other countries. There by eliminating jobs in this country and ensuring that it would make it virtually impossible to bring thousands of soldiers back home, to no jobs.

Yes, President Obama has a very difficult task, he has to rebuild the economy, while maneuvering through the Corporate Neocons that control DC politics, and draw down the troop strength all at the same time. In other words, he physically can not bring the troops home from a war all at once with the record high unemployment rates both of which were created by the Bush/Cheney admin.

from the military into the civilian world if they were withdrawn from these bullshit wars? A person's military career doesn't end just because a war ends, they have to finish out their time and they MIGHT even stay in longer if they AREN'T sent to fight in these bullshit conflicts. you're reasoning is flawed. Sounds like you are searching for excuses for Obama.

2. What makes you think they will have a choice to stay in?

I am Ex military, and have a great understanding of how things work. But you do not have to take my word for it, look at history for yourself. It is pretty common knowledge that after a war ends there usually is a downsizing that occurs.

Snip>Few institutions have had as much experience with organizational downsizing as the
United States military. The historic pattern has been one of a small professional military
in peacetime, rapidly supplemented by a mobilization of civilians during war, followed by
a rapid demobilization with the war’s end. Decisions about military force sizing are critical
political and strategic decisions. <Snip

Here is a pretty good timeline if you care to read it.
