Obama waves magic wand and the Dow Industrials best July in 20 years!
Shout it from the roof tops babies!

I know it has been reported today but let's say it again - Obama is doing well!

NEW YORK - New hope for the economy just gave the stock market its best July in 20 years.

Investors placed big bets over the last month that the profit machine at U.S. companies will continue to rev higher, and that the longest recession since World War II is finally easing its grip. If that turns out to be wrong, the huge gains of July means there will be an even bigger price to pay if companies don't deliver.

The Dow surged 725 points, or 8.6 percent, for the month, with most of the gains arriving in bursts in the final 15 days. The extraordinary run shaped July into the best month for the blue chips since October 2002 and the best July since 1989.

13. Unlikely. And know this, when the economy does well most won't give O credit.
They'd sooner give it over to luck or this or that, but not O and his work and admin.

8. As I've been saying for a while...
The recession ends this summer, Q3 has positive GDP, job growth returns late this year or early next year.

And a new prediction:

Obama's approval ratings will be back around the highest levels 1 year from today.

15. I agree with that. I'm surprised the job returns will be that soon.
I'd have sooner thought at least another 2 years. That's good to know and there's still about 85-90% of the stimulus package left to distribute. So when the economy comes back it's going to be a crazy boom, especially if job returns is that soon.

Anyway, I've added you to my buddy list cause of your insight. Thanks.

17. Well, we've been losing jobs since December '07, so that's a long time!
It probably will end up being more than two years of job losses.

20. The relationship between administration policies and market performance is tenuous at best.
As is the relationship between stock market performance and actual economic health (see: unemployment at c. 15% actual, including those unemployed not counted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics; see also: GDP contraction of 1% annual rate for the second quarter).

25. The relationship between administration policies and voter perception is less tenuous.
For example, the Reagan years.

The current unemployment rate sucks, as it did under Reagan, but if the pattern of the past follows, corporate stimulation leads to employment gains.

Of course, this comes with a huge debt cost, requiring a re-balancing, as was done under Clinton.

Yet my impression is that the kings of Wall Street are happier under Republican rule. I must not understand Wall Street. Why do the rich vote against their best interests?
