To get them back we didn't have to illegally sell weapons for their release and then funnel the profits from that sale to run a clandestine operation in Central America.

3. Out of curiosity, I ventured over there to see what they are saying
Here's a choice one, "But what I wonder is what we had to give up to get them back? Was NK given something? Was China given something?" :eyes:

7. Well at least oneof the more erudite conservative blogs

did accuse the Democrats of "giving something" to NK.

The facts are against them. the Democrats simply defeated an irresponsible Brownback amendment. They kind of have a hard sell because Dick Lugar voted against it as well. The Democrats have done a great job this year in rejecting a lot of kneejerk anti NK, anti-Iran, anti- Palestinian etc amendments designed to tie President Obama's hands.

The truth is the Obama administration led new tough sanctions via the UN.

11. Exactly. And Bolton and other conservatives would gladly have left the two women
languishing in prison where they could have died (in a hard labor camp). Terrible, terrible people.

4. There was the Kim Jong Il photo op
I wonder how those pictures will be sold to the North Korean people: Former running dog President Bill Clinton makes pilgrimage to the Dear Leader to ask his advice.

8. Exactly
We got the hostages and KJI got to show his country that he was a world respected leader coming to visit.

I do not see how that can hurt us at all. Seems a fair deal.

13. That's what Olbermann said last night
Kim just wanted to have his picture taken with a world leader before he goes to his version of Nirvana.

15. Who the fuck do you think you're kidding? Do you know something?
I could care less if they had a picture of Bill Clinton kissing him on the cheek. That was a very small price to pay for getting two U.S. citizens out of harm's way and back home so Obama is not constrained by their situation as he tries to get tough with N. Korea.

I hate people who easily swallow the right wing koolaid.

5. CNN is already putting a negative spin on it .. ( the reporters were connected to Al Gore's news
gathering operation - Hence so much of effort was put into it)

and become a hero of the right wing!

14. True - and even better maybe sit in judgment on the patriotism of the Senator you were convicted
of lying under oath to - in spite of that fact that you are a convicted felon let off because of a technicality and he is genunine American war hero, who has lived by the law of the land.
