... :) even though we share the same goal...the public option. I think Obama and supporters of the public option are seeking some backup from those of us who voted for Obama. They need our voice to be loud and directed to others in our communities who may lack information...thus the request for LTTE's. I hope many here will participate and make that voice...that Obama needs...as loud as possible.

I have no problem with the White House link as a place to also gain information. I was just hoping you weren't seeking our voices to go there, because we'd be 'preaching to the choir.' :7

...controversy. There has been a LOT of coverage on health care reform. It took leadership to make that happen. The process isn't done yet.

If you remember, one of the things progressives most faulted Bush for was being 'the decider' and never informing or changing his 'set-in-stone-opinion' on anything for eight years. This is not that process. Patience. JMHO.

The White House has a 10 city bus tour out now ..educating people on Health Care Reform.

Last Wednesday, Organizing for America kicked off a ten city bus tour to help bring attention to the work that's been going on all month in the fight for health insurance reform. Since then the bus has traveled from Phoenix to Des Moines, and thousands of Americans have come out to demand insurance reform now. In Phoenix, people heard from Dr. Nicholas Vasquez and Linda Grady, who shared their own stories to demonstrate the need for reform:

The highlight of the evening was listening to personal testimony from two everyday folks, Linda Grady and Dr. Nicholas Vasquez. Dr Vasquez, an ER doctor, spoke about how he regularly would see patients who lack health insurance that needed some kind of treatment. He referenced one gentleman that came in six times within 10 days due to chronic migraines and no health insurance.

...Linda Grady was your average person that was suddenly afflicted with a herniated disk. She watched as the same injury happened to a professional baseball player in the same week. Linda followed his recovery very carefully and within two months he was back on the field while she was still bed ridden. When she tried to see the specialists her doctor suggested, her insurance company wouldn’t cover it, saying it wasn’t necessary. She was blessed to have a health care advocate in her family that took up her cause and got her the proper care. She ended her speech saying “God speed to this bus on its journey, because this bus is the real ‘Straight Talk Express’!”

Health Care Reform: We Need to do this NOW

To my adult children, their friends and families,

You don't remember President Clinton's effort to fix our broken health care system in the early 1990's...you were too young. I believed then, as I believe now, that your future (and the future of those cute grandkids I love) depends on getting the issues right this time...including education and health care. And President Obama is on the right track.

As the debate heats up, it is difficult to separate fact from fiction based on newspaper accounts alone, despite journalists' best efforts. A lot of the misconceptions out there about health care reform can be traced to the powerful lobbying and misinformation campaigns of the very industry with the most to lose when the system gets fixed -- the private insurance companies who are taking advantage of the holes in current legislation.

You may not remember...but we've been here before. In the 1990's we faced the same opposition, using the same tactics, and we LOST the battle. That loss has been disastrous for our economy and the families that make up this great country...including ours.

So my hope this time is that all of us take the time to educate ourselves on this issue. The American people are too smart to allow insurance companies to succeed in tricking us TWICE.

We NEED health care reform and we need it NOW. We...all of our families... need it and our economy isn't sustainable without it. Those cute grandkids deserve it. Let's not miss the chance to get health care right this time.
