I'm going to John Kerry's town hall in Somerville tonight and I'm gonna
randomly stand up and yell at the top of my lungs:

NO!, NO NO NO! WHATEVER YER GONNA SAY I SAY NO! YEAH I'M ANGRY, I'M MAD CUZ YOU'ALL CUSSED OUT GEORGE BUSH FOR 8 YEARS AN' CALLED HIM HITLER SO NOW ITS MY TURN! FREEDOM OF SPEECH! NO SOCIALISM MEDICINE! I CAME HERE CUZ I GOT A FREE BUS RIDE AND WE'RE ALL MAD AT YOU HITLER BROWNSHIRTS AN' WE WON'T STOP YELLIN TILL WE SEE OBAMA'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE! LONG FORM!

whereupon I will pull out a plastic ziplock with paper in it, tape it on the front of my face and sit down.

I have some friends in somerville, who could go and laugh hysterically at me.

this plan is still in formative stage, so any ideas welcome.

I know, I know, its hard to beat the humour of the real yellin teabaggers, but I think a parody it called for.

2. you can't parody a parody.
How could you actually look like you were faking it, when the real people are already so over the top?

me.

14. And me.
Kerry's got more responsibility now--until we either get an interim appointee or get a special election, he's the only Senator we've got.

15. I know a lot of liberal Dems in many other states who would give
just about anything to have had either of the Commonwealth's U.S. Senators.

John Kerry is the bee's knees.

4. The whole thing is a parody, it seems (& then I'm serious)
Insisting on the "long form" is key!

But I think you should have a serious question for Sen. Kerry. Like: bring pages 9-13 of the 2008 Democratic Party Platform (link below) because apparently this document was just for show. I'm in the Midwest but would love to ask him:

How is the Democratic Party working to achieve its platform on healthcare, which clearly states "healthcare for all" and a "public option"? Why are we not seeing them "stand united to achieve this fundamental objective"? Because that's why Democrats won the House, Senate and Presidency - we, the American people, want change, including healthcare access change. If we wanted people to represent us that loved to hit our hot buttons and then do nothing about those hot buttons when in power, we'd vote Republican. When are we going to see a commitment to the platform?

Anyway, sorry, I guess I'm working on my next set of letters to Congresspeople. (I also liked the plastic ziplock.)

6. John Kerry is with you on the public option & health care for all.
Perhaps a better question for the OP is to express frustration with the other Democrats in the Senate who are not on board with this approach. Then ask Sen. Kerry where we are on this and what he personally is doing to reach a deal that will include a public option.

7. Yes & thanks for clarifying
My question is more about the overall party where these so-called "Democrats" are obstructing. So I'm for the approach about asking Sen. Kerry what he is personally doing to resolve this *while* reaching a deal that includes the public option and is in keeping with the platform. Thanks, beachmom.

5. As funny as that would seem, I think emotions are still raw with the loss of Teddy Kennedy
I'm talking about John Kerry, of course, who choked up on MTP this Sunday. No doubt, some crazies will show up and say some version of what you wrote, so you might just consider asking legit questions or showing support for the Senator.

9. Can you wear a hat with tea bags taped to it?

10. And the media would spin it into a negative...
...to demean Senator Kerry. I 'get' the emotion...but we progressives would end up being made fun of.

I like saltpoint's suggestion...say thank you to John Kerry for me, too. :patriot:

13. Exactly. And then the whole 'disruptive' thing would get pinned...
...on the Democratic Party! Are we ON to the way they work, or what?? :7 :hi:

11. The problem is you will annoy many who you agree with and win the affection of
those you despise. Not to mention, you would likely be removed - thus missing everything else.

Then consider the after effects. Just as the woman who Barney spoke with, you might become known. Can you imagine the field day the right would have? The obnoxious disruptive person was a left wing dirty trick to make the right look bad. You would raise doubts in the minds of the vast number of people in the middle on who these obnoxious disruptors are. (I would assume they would go so far as to try to connect you to Senator Kerry - bizarrely claiming he wanted you to do that.

PLEASE do not do that. Take the time to think of a good question, like the one Beachmom gave or one that lets Kerry answer how the public option could decrease costs overall. (I would assume he would have an answer that could persuade many on the fence.) There are many discussions - here, on Daily Kos etc - that speak of the issues. There has to be something you would like the answer to.

PS I hope the event is informative and productive.
