Mr. President: Say It ....Yes We Can have a Public Option! |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-02-09 09:16 AM by goclark
Everyone here knows I love President Obama! I just read that he is planning a Major Speech on Health Care.
I will keep saying this over and over and over again....
We really don't need a speech,in the purest sense, we need CHARTS and SLOGANS like YES WE CAN have a PUBLIC OPTION that means...1.....2......3......
Mr. President ~ Use your slogans, call us to ACTION.
Remember that you always told us, " Make Me Do It!"
Now is the time to MAKE US get off of our chairs and off of our key boards. Make US stop COMPLAINING and CAMPAIGN for Health CARE.
Don't worry about polarizing the idiots on the right, talk to your voters and MAKE US campaign for HEALTH CARE.
Say TEDDY WANTED THE PUBLIC OPTION -- do it for TEDDY!

10. Yes ~ let's keep it simple |
|
Remember that the nuts that have jumped out of the candy bars have a reading level of about 1st/2nd grade.
They have managed to control the M$M by saying one simple word "NO!"
We keep using all these long explanations.
So -- if we don't keep it real simple, the "NO!" can rule the day.

19. No - we must have access to health care |
|
not forced purchase of insurance that may have out of pocket costs that are so high you still can't afford care.
Teddy wanted Medicare for All - he might have compromised on a real public option that paved the way for single payer but no way would he have supported a plan whose main purpose was to protect the insurance companies.

5. More like ... yes we MUST have a public option. |
|
Because I don't know how much longer I can afford health insurance. They keep raising my rates, and I never even go to the doctor. I'm putting off all of the tests/doc visits I'm supposed to have annually or biannually. Can't afford them AND the insurance premiums. And I can't find anything cheaper than what I've got.
I don't expect the government to take care of me. But pretty soon I'll be paying as much for health insurance as I do for the roof over my head. That's insane. I need another option. And millions of people are way WAY worse off than I.

7. I don't want him to say " We CAN" I want him to say "We WILL" |
|
I want him too be strong and to LEAD.
If he or any of the not so liberal Democrats cave to the Republicans on this, besides giving up on having health care myself, I will actively campaign for any liberal candidate running against anyone who does not actively demand a public option.
Public option was the COMPROMISE. I will not compromise further. I cannot. I am hoping they all do the right thing. The alternative is them forcing me to purchase crap care for too much money to line the pockets of big business YET AGAIN. I am fed up and I am not the only one.
I've tried to get past a few other things I feel a little let down over, but healthcare for me is the straw that would break the camel's back. I suggest our party listens. If they do not, they may find themselves surrounded by a much smaller crowd.

8. My Question Is This... Why Do The American People Have To Sit & Wait, And Wait And Wait... |
|
for CLARITY?? He campaigned a certain way, and I realize the CONGRESS is now involved, but tell me why, we have to keep waiting? Why can't he just come out and say what HE WANTS, WHAT HE still believes and WHAT HE will do to get HIS Health Care Reform??
I come here and all I see is, YES, Public Option, NO. Public Option, Maybe Yes, Maybe No, Public Option! Or we must "wait and see" or "we need more time" or "we don't know yet" he'll let us know! I'm so confused and pretty irritated by the fact that SOME STATEMENT can't be made!!
Each day that goes by and we keep up speculation about JUST WHAT is going to happen, and it only fuels more fires about this thing. So much fighting here and name calling, it's just not something that should be happening! WE STILL DON'T KNOW... Tell Me "why not?"
Is that so hard for Obama? Can't he just take the Bull By The Horns and lay it all out? I'm tired of waiting and I'm tired of all the fighting! Meanwhile, it seems he's losing ground the longer he puts it off!
Let's get with it already!
JMHO!!!

16. Yes, It Is That Hard ~ this Health Care Issue |
|
Is being owned by the MSM which is owned by the Pharma Industry, the Rethugs that want the poor to stay poor and the rich to get richer and the Health Care Insurance Company and on and on.
This is not an easy fight but working together and beliving YES WE CAN win this one too -- we CAN do it.

18. We cant do anything if the congress is more afriad of corporations then the public |
|
Right now we can scream and yell, but until they understand they are replacable, NOTHING will changed. And that goes for my heros too. I've worked my ass off for Kerry and right now I am PISSED at him.

could have made it through all of this mess, even a strong third party.
I'd rather work like hell to stay behind the Democrats.

17. I used to think like that Clark |
|
But I've watched them caving to the corporations and the repukes for 3 years now. I'm pretty tired of being "represented" by guys that are more afraid of the corporations then they are of the public. If the Democrats do not find their spines then I will look elsewhere for someone who represents me.

Remember the "phony war" the time after the Germans had occupied France and before any real conflict with Great Britain had seriously started?
That's what is happening now. And like a good general the President is not wasting ammunition or troops when it doesn't matter.
Expect full press when congress gets back.
With the unions now drawing a line in the sand the rest of the party will have to support a public option or watch health care go down.

would be a perfect word IMO if we were trying to reach people of average intelligence and lots of time to digest information.
We are talking about reaching people, even Democrats, that don't have time to read the newspapers.
We are trying to reach people that don't belong to DU (we all have high IQ's :)
And, well meaning people that desperately need Health Care but don't even have time to look at TV for more than 5 minutes.

21. Then he also needs to explain what he considers a "robust" plan |
|
just saying the word doesn't mean anymore than the politicans who say they support "affordable healthcare" - but never explain what they mean by that.

22. I see your point ~ thanks |

Framing the message in 1,2,3 ABC Language is sometimes more difficult than all the flowing words that so many don't have the time( or don't take the time) to digest.
One thing I do know -- the President and Congress Reps that are framing this message need to make the differences PLAIN and SIMPLE.
Now we have the Nuts loud and clear " Just Say NO!"
While we go on and on and on and on and on ~~~~
