NYT: Having blown their load early, conservatives now want serious healthcare debate
The right wingers are now realizing they went too fast and hard on the idiot fear card, which has distracted from their "real questions" about the plan. I guess they want a second chance to take it down:

WASHINGTON - The roiling debate over health care this summer has included a host of accusations from opponents of the plan that have been so specious that many in the mainstream news media have flatly labeled them false.

Far from embracing the attacks, many leading conservative health care policy experts said in recent interviews that the dynamic was precluding a more robust real-world debate while making it nearly impossible for them to inject their studied, free-market solutions into the discussions.

And they said the focus on what they consider misleading or secondary issues was getting in the way of real questions about the plan they believed worthy of consideration.

1. I'd say its time to vote for cloture and press forward the GOP isn't interested...
remember they made this not about health care but about defeating Obama in the next election.

2. No shit. If what you want to do is demagogue rather than debate . . .
Grunt instead of govern, natter rather than negotiate . . . and be stupid rather than be serious -- then maybe you *are* stupid and the whole world would be better off ignoring your existence.

5. As the OP says....they just want a 2nd chance to "take it down".
Of course they want another chance. The democrats now consider them irrelevant and them knowing that the president is a softey for such things they know they can get back in play by once again with their crocodile tears.

We've seen what their "studied free-market solutions" can do. Fail.

7. They don't want a serious debate; it's just another stalling tactic
to keep us from using reconcilliation. Just more B.S. from the party of B.S.

I guess that they shouldn't have stoked up the crazies so much or tried to calm them down a bit if they really cared about an honest debate. Instead we got DeMint and Inhofe talking about "breaking" Obama, Barton talking about repealing any reforms passed, Coburn talking about Obama bringing all of this hatred on himself, Grassley and Enzi admitting that they were "negotiating" to stall, and, of course, Palin's " Death Panels". Obama is not going to be swayed IMHO. The Pubs must be getting desperate now.
