QUESTION: What can we call "progressives" who believe ANYTHING our extremely sloppy M$M says? |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 10:33 AM by uponit7771
I suggest absorbers cause they'll sop up anything the M$M throws out.
I mean seriously, the "official sources" etc shit is getting old and so called "progressives" who believe the papers who print this shit is getting even older.

Where else do you find progressives? Are you only musing as to what to call progressives OUTSIDE of DU? That hardly seems likely.
And I have been watching your postings today...all going after DUers who you think are gullible fools, and then you make a thread to call these gullible fools names.
What I find so funny is that you are so ham-handed that you think the "who me?" defense works.
As far as my position, it is immaterial....the criticism stands. You started a thread to be patronizing and to call progressives names who disagree with you, and that makes you a bully.
But if you must know, I am in a wait and see mode concerning the public option. I just cannot stand watching DUers fling poo around and pretend like it is roses. your behavior is that of a bully, and it is plain for all to see, even if you cannot.

If that is the case, you should publish it there, or at least be more clear that you are targeting another audience.
Personally, I think you meant DUers with your OP and are now back-pedaling. Typical behavior of someone caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Had you went with your "revised purpose" of simply making a point, it would not have attracted my attention as it did. But you chose the low road, and so here I am.
You can, of course, apologize for starting your OP in this manner and start over since you fell way short of your stated purpose, but I have a feeling you will not.
Clearly, your OP has attracted people who are posting about PUMAs, stupid people, gullible people, and fake progressives, so your point has been lost with the other poo flingers. Your OP has attracted like minds, all of which want to be bullies just like you.

Most are too afraid to go after a person who is going out of their way to be obnoxious....I revel in it because often those who are apt to call names have very little to say beyond those names, and my engagement with them reveals that.

30. I agree with that, certainly. My views are very far to the left. |
|
I simply favor calling and emailing and gathering in support of a public option, rather than some of the things some "progressives" have called for. Like the ones who called for US to disrupt the townhall meetings, too.
I don't mean to insinuate that all progressives are like that. Most are not. It's the few that ARE whom I criticize because I think it's counterproductive.
Another thing. I prefer the term liberal to progressive. I don't run from the liberal label. I embrace it with enthusiasm. It's a GOOD term that has been demonized by the right.

"Progressive" doesn't really flow off my keyboard very easily. I prefer liberal as well.
That said, I think liberals in general are getting a bad rap in the current debate, and I keep seeing the term being used almost perjoratively in many different posts. It's starting to irk.
I tend to think all the "drama" is a good thing. The more liberals freak over even a passing mention that the public option might be dropped, the more the politicians know their base means business.

37. The drama has certainly stirred things up, hasn't it? It's made us |
|
more active and outspoken than we would have been otherwise. And that, in turn, allows our representatives to vote for a more liberal plan. If we were silent, they could very well think we didn't support a public option.
I think the majority of us have gone about being vocal in the right way and it's working.

The fact of the matter is, there is no clear commitment to the public option, and all the responses out of the White House, including Axlerod's, has left as much squish room on the question as possible. No clear, strong commitment.
So liberals are going to make sure the administration and Congress know exactly the peril that lays ahead in their electoral chances should they betray us.
Yet what is the response from the power-devotees? "Oh, those liberals. So het up over health care reform. Jesus, we got Obama in office, what more do they want?" Just more whining, bitching, and moaning from the people who thought a Democrat in office was the end rather than the means to an end. The differences between the two camps grow starker by the day.

|
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 12:58 PM by Prism
Since it is clearly failing. Nature - and the media - abhor a vaccuum. It will be filled in the absence of any news. Recent statements from the White House seem to indicate that this vaccuum was intentional. Rather than leading, the policy masters in the West Wing decided to let 535 representatives and every op-ed columnist with half a byline hash it out over an entire recess.
Doesn't seem too bright in hindsight, does it?
Maybe a clear, definable, actionable message would've been a sounder idea. Granted, that gives politicians less room to go "See? We passed something!" no matter what piece of crap comes flying out the door.
