Why do conservatives hate children and schools???

Already - five days before President Obama's address to our school children - the fanatic fringe of the right wing thinks they know exactly what he's going to say. The wild speculation has already snowballed to the point that I was told earlier this evening that POTUS would be explaining to the kids how he is planning to take over the health care industry.

During the reign of Bush the Dumber, whenever a rational debater presented FACTS in opposition to one of Dubya's powergrabs - Patriot Act, Iraq War, privitization of Social Security, warrantless wire-tapping, etc. - the koolaid drinkers responded with shouts of "Traitor!!" and "Why do Liberals hate America?!?!"

By the same token, couldn't we now scream, "Why does the GOP hate children?" We can even make claims that their plan is to abolish the entire education system. We could support the claims by using charts that show the less education one has, the more "conservative" (s)he is likely to be.

I'm proud that we don't stoop to such tactics, but sometimes you have to punch a bully in the throat.

1. Here's what I find amusing

Public schools are the public option per education.

Public schools are to education what a 'public option' would be to health care - taxpayer funded, free to those who opt in, voluntary.

The canard that President Obama is going to promote socialism - voiced by those sending their children to socially funded public schools - is completely insane.

The most devout "Christians" out there are the ones most likely to cherry-pick which bible passages they want to live by. And, if you'll notice, most of those passages come, not from Christ's teachings, but from the Old Testament.

So parents are asking their schools and school districts for an excused absence for choosing to keep their child at home to avoid exposure to POTUS. Wouldn't it then be an excused absence for parents to keep their children home from schools and districts that are NOT going to show the speech?
