2. I was vacationing in NC when Teddy died.
I was taken aback by how many people were so nasty about the Kennedy family fortune being seeded by illegal activities running liquor during prohibition.

I told hubby "Wait, Richard Petty is looked on as a deity in this area and they don't say one damn thing on how his family got their start? Running booze!" Gotta drive fast if you're trying to make deliveries and avoid the sheriff!

So no, I don't think they'd ever boycott NASCAR. They'd just invent their own version of reality.

4. Junior Johnson was a famous bootlegger.
He endorsed Barack Obama in the presidential election.

As far as I know the Petty family was never involved in bootlegging. Until today Richard Petty will not permit anything associated with alcohol on any of his race cars or teams.

I think it's a fine idea to involve NASCAR drivers in getting the message out. It's rare to ever hear of a NASCAR driver involved in criminal activities since the sanctioning body won't tolerate that kind of behavior.

3. I wonder how they'll handle the cognitive dissonance?
They'll probably claim that Earnhardt et al were tricked and didn't know it was going to be used to promote the President's speech.

One interview with Earnhardt could put that to rest, but of course Faux News won't be doing that.
