Most Of The Kids At My Boy's Middle School Will See Obama's Speech Tuesday |
|
They have a rule here that in order to watch movies & videos etc. the students have to have a signed permission slip on file. They are issued at the beginning of the school year with all the other various forms (that my wife thankfully takes care of), and in addition, if any "controversial" material is shown (PG rated movies and so forth) special permission slips are required for that particular viewing. My son told me they are showing Obama's speech but that any kids who don't have their initial signed permission slips turned in have to stand out in the hall during Obama's speech. My son also said there was no provision given to opt out of viewing the speech or special permission required either. Considering we live in a pretty "red" part of the state I'm pleased at the school board for showing it here and not playing politics.
