John Harwood (MSNBC): "...Let's face it-in a country of 300 million people, there are a lot of |
|
stupid people, too, because if you believe that it's somehow unhealthy for kids for the President to say 'work hard and stay in school,' you're STUPID! And as a matter of fact, I'm worried for some of those kids of those parents who are upset. I'm not sure they're smart enough to RAISE those kids."
He was talking about the controversy over Obama speaking to students Tuesday.

Someone has to do it, these people are nuts. But then again, when you sew the nuts, you do reap them. During the campaign, Obama called bigoted people 'good, decent and moral people' and swore that they would always be listened to at his table. He promised that. He said that bigots are good people. The message was 'we do not need you GLBT people, because we have 'people of faith' and Obamacans, all these faithy Republicans who are now all for Obama! They will stand with him, you are not needed.' Obamacans. Where are they now? Why did they think there would be such people? Did all that ass kissing toward the bigots help him? Did his joining them in the anti-gay corner bring him an ounce of support? Where is McClurkin? Where is Rick Warren? They were to be his backup, the silblings in Christ united against the Gay. Why do these men not speak for their friend, their President? If Obama had been worth his salt in defending minorities against bigots, he'd have stronger and more able support right now as the nuts come out. The nuts who attack him are the same nuts that attack GLBT people. Same people he called 'good decent and moral' when they attacked my family. Are they no longer good, decent and moral people? Why were Obama and his apologists so willing to stand with the bigots against my family? And more importantly, why are they not praising these bigots as being 'good folks' who will always have a place at the table? All bigots are bad. Not just the ones who don't like Obama. Also the ones who campaigned for him, and the ones he has in his administration, like DuBois. But Obama has said that bigots must be treated with honor and respect and invited to speak. He promised that would always be the case. So why do these bigots get everyone in a tizzy? Should you all not declare that they are good an decent, and they need to be invited to the table to speak their minds? Or is that only bigots who hate 'those people' not the bigots who hate 'real humans'? The double standard and hypocrisy is stunning. If Obama had the ethics and courage of Harwood, we'd be in a better place than we are today.

62. I'm not sure they're smart enough to RAISE those kids... |
|
I have watch programs that have interviewed children and parents who are home-schooling their children. They weren't educating the children but brain washing them that evolution was totally unfounded and that creationism and intelligent design are scientific facts. Everyone of the families that I have seen were members of extreme right wing evangelical churches that reinforced these erroneous concepts.
Just how many of these kids will be ever able to look at anything objectively? I just don't see the situation getting any better, but actually worsening as these kids take their place in society. It is almost like a cult of zombies that are being breed to invade society. It's like a bad science fiction movie happening right before eyes.

63. I was astonished to see an editorial in the Dallas Morning News calling it irrational. |
|
Editorial: Irrational Obama protesters speak poorly to youth
05:46 PM CDT on Thursday, September 3, 2009
The hysteria in North Texas and elsewhere over President Barack Obama's planned speech next week to schoolchildren has been both astonishing and depressing.
All this because the president of the United States intends to give a pep talk to schoolchildren, urging them to stay in school and work hard at their studies. "This isn't a policy speech," a White House spokesman said. "This is a speech designed to encourage kids to stay in school."
The nerve! If Obama exhorts children to be kind to their mommies, no doubt some critics will denounce him for trying to control family life.http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-president_0904edi.State.Edition1.2668b3d.html

65. You wouldn't fool the poorest African children or their parents. The educational standards |
|
of economically disadvantaged Zulu children, for example, are a lot higher than those of British children in state schools. Nor would their parents be dumb enough to believe anyone who told them that was a bad thing. And I'm sure that's replicated throughout the third world.
Socialist, for crying out loud even! Don't the bogey-man cries about socialism by the Republican riff-raff sound like some kind of dumb joke?
