Do Republicans realize the "community organizer" part of Obama keeps them in the game?
Considering the nature of the board the last few days, I just want to say off the bat that I support the President 100%, trust him to do the right thing, and expect that he will succeed.

My point, however, is that it's kind of ironic that Republicans spent 2008 attacking him for being a "community organizer", turning that into some kind of negative, and spending much of their convention ridiculing it. Yet, it turns out that this part of his background doesn't signify at all what they suggested, i.e., that he's some kind of radical. Rather, it's this part of his background that seems to be driving him to bring everyone to the table, even people who clearly deserve to be left out in the cold. It's (rightfully) infuriating to most of us here, but I really think that's what's driving him.

1. That's a good point.
It's how he operates.

2. It's not about *wanting* to keep them in the game; it's about
having irrefutable proof in the public eye that he TRIED. They won't have a leg to stand on when they lie about him trying to shove a partisan agenda down people's throats.

He knows the Republicans care fuck-all about irony. They just want to ruin his presidency. And I don't believe he's inclined to let that happen any more than he allowed himself to be rolled during the campaign, which is to say, not at all considering that outcome.

3. For some in the GOP, it's almost a badge of honor that they are "disattached"...
...with the common folk. That's Obama's strength, and they're too stupid to realize that, it's his time as a community organizer that taught him to speak to the population as a person and not a politician. He connects with people on a much more basic level. Republicans, to counter this, only have the fear card to play.

4. Without question.....
.... he said at some point during the election .... or it might have been just after "one of my strenghts is my ability to get people into a room and get them to start talking."

Oh to be a fly next to the Oval Office telephone next week .

Well, maybe not a FLY! lol A lady bug perhaps.

(surely he wouldn't kill a lady bug, ya think?)
