They fear Obama will indoctrinate their kids BECAUSE they have been indoctrinated
Boycotting this speech is all part of the rightwing hysteria that goes hand-in-hand with cries that Obama is a marxist, a fascist, a socialist, a nazi, and a non-citizen who will euthanize grandma and Sarah Palin's handicapped child if given the chance. How many people are actually so ignorant and gullible that when they see Glenn Beck shed a tear for what has befallen "his country" they feel the fear and outrage his act was intended to instill?

Get a grip, people. To the extent that students will listen to and heed the president's message on the importance of an education, the speech is a good thing. The extent to which their parents believe the speech will be a subversive indoctrination is a measure of how thoroughly they themselves have been indoctrinated by Faux News and Hate radio.

4. THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Seriously though, they don't want their children exposed to an intelligent black man who will make more sense than their parents and have them asking, "Why are my parents acting so crazy?"

5. They're afraid the kids will realize they've been snookered this whole time
by a bunch of right-wing fanatics and self-named terrorists.

Note: When a wingnut calls himself a rightwing terrorist at a Congressional town hall meeting and the congressman agrees and calls him a "great American," I think it's safe to refer to them in the same way they refer to themselves.

8. Exactly.
A coupla nights ago, it was Parents nite, for back to school. Well, I didn't know much about a speech coming, but I heard a parent ask if the school was going to air the speech, and I wondered why would she bother to ask, and then I realized these last days after catching up to the "indoctrination scandal buzz" that this lady was serious! EEEK! I'm staying away from that moronic matronic robot!

9. I think it's because
they'll end up looking at their parents and wondering why they've been cursing at this nice man and calling him names for months. They'll eventually realize that, contrary to what mommy and daddy told them, people of color aren't really different from them at all and no less intelligent than they are -- in fact, some of them are pretty cool! This is the indoctrination the closed-minded bigots are afraid of.

11. I wish that's what they were afraid of
If the parents understood that Obama was a nice man of color who is intelligent and pretty cool, at least they would have a grip on reality even though they didn't want their children disabused of the racism with which they were raised.

Sadly, I think most of these folks actually believe Barack Obama is an evil man intent on destroying freedom and free enterprise in America.
