Obama's late mother inspires doc

Aloe Entertainment is producing documentary "Stanley Ann Dunham: A Most Generous Spirit," centered on President Obama's late mother, in association with IMG and Schroeder-Ptacek Prods.

The feature will be directed by Charles Burnett ("Killer of Sheep," "Oprah Winfrey Presents: The Wedding").

Carolyn Schroeder and Greg Ptacek are producing. Schroeder previously worked with Burnett on Miramax's "The Glass Shield."

Aloe Entertainment topper Mary Aloe will exec produce.

"According to Barack Obama himself, his mother was his single biggest influence in his life," Aloe said. The documentary will delve into Dunham's work in microfinance and explore her decision to send her 10-year-old son from Indonesia to live in Hawaii with her parents out of fear that her politically sensitive work might endanger his life.

Dunham died of cancer in 1995 at the age of 52.
