Let's not answer any more Troll posts !.......that is what they want us to do anyway...... |
|
Let them stare into a blank reply board .........that would infuriate them. I know it's tempting to answer back, but try to resist!

1. It'll never happen. There are too many on this board who support what the trolls are spewing. |

4. 'fraid so. I've found that such posts are the ones that get the most "unrecs" and yet are also |
|
the ones that get the most responses. I too wish there was some way to let 'em slide.

3. Ah come on... deny us all that fun? |

No matter what you do, it won't change their mind... might as well play with them a bit before they leave.

6. Who do you think are trolls? |

Unfortunately, for many DUers, the definition of "troll" is "anyone who disagrees with me."

8. That would make trolls out of >90% of those starting threads in LBN |

considering that - for the better part - they are the only game in town. I don't like the corporate media or their conservative/neocon rump-smooching either, but they've got the money needed to pay reporters and editors, and we're still dependent upon their stories to get our news...for the time being.
My definition of 'troll' goes something along the lines of an individual who joins an online community - knowing that his/her core beliefs differ radically from those of the owner/admin/members of that website. This person than does his/her best to bait other members into flamewars and other disruptive behavior that detract from our main discussion.
I realize this is a broad generalization, and acknowledge that one of their tactics is to drag some lie or half-truth from a corporate media source into discussion, but it's far from the only one they use. Trolls do serve a useful purpose, however, in that they make us better at backing up our assertions with facts and documentation. When we hold them to the same standard, their argument typically melts like a snowflake hitting a steam grate...and that's when I bid them adieu; ignoring them after obliterating their cherished talking point is then particularly infuriating to them and especially gratifying for me!

and I like venting at them myself on occasion. I especially like being able to insult them. Naw, it's too much fun to take them on.
