1. It's a nice break for the kids, though.
We usually have two consecutive days in early October, for the very good reason that that's Fair Week. All the kids used to ditch school to go to the fair, but on different days. This way, instead of one-fifth of the school being 'sick' each day, they're all up there eating fried dough and riding the Tilt-a-Whirl at the same time.

Graceful bowing to the inevitable is good management.

2. I've been back a week, today is a holiday, friday is the installation of a new president
my classes meet MWF, and the combined "large group meeting" for my sections meets once a week on Friday. I get one day in week 2, and it'll be in small group (in which we do inter-teaching, scaffolded problem solving, etc).

I feel violated by the mad dash to get started followed by an "all but dead" week. UUUUUUUuuuuuuggggggggRRRRrrrrr!

4. Tomorrow is our first day.
We're coming off of a week of meetings. I can't wait to see kids in the classroom. Then they can't make me go to more meetings.

Oops. Except for this; we were told that someone would "cover" our classrooms so that we could attend IEPs in the middle of the day. I have about 20 students with IEPs. :(

At least it won't happen tomorrow.

5. None here until March, and they are doing P/T conferences after school now so as
to not use up too many student days. (Guess they got tired of ending school in mid to late June.)
