I think it's time to vote again
The American electorate gave Barack Obama a substantial majority and a mandate for change. Since the inauguration I, like many who voted for him, have been content to watch him in action believing that we had done enough by simply putting him in office. Almost eight months into his first term, he is taking on the problems he promised to fix but fights against a tide of lunacy I never anticipated. People who cannot accept his election are trying to de-legitimize his presidency and deflect his progress with the most irrational devices and outright lies. The deceit of the defeated ideology is becoming more overtly racist and more targeted to the army of ignorant that conservatives have invested their future in. They talk about his plummeting popularity when my own admiration for the man has only grown.

It is time to vote again, this time with public action that goes beyond the painless task of marking a ballot. We need to publicly show him our support even if we question his game plan. For the first time in eight years I now have some financial security and a growing work load. It’s time to step out of my comfort zone and get back to the risky activism that I embraced when Bush was dragging us into an illegal war. It’s time to get in their faces and to let Barack Obama know that we have his back and that the election still means something.

2. Well said! I've got his back, and I know many others on DU do too. His speech today should be a
reminder to all of us that the man we believed in and voted for is still there and still asking for our support and confidence to help him get things done.

FIRED UP!! READY TO GO!! YES WE CAN!!!

3. Nail meet head

Or we could go back and drag out speeches that show that we are more progressive and fighting harder than Obama.

Atleast some people pound their key board really hard.

5. I'll second that. We need not be blind to how the reach often falls short of the goal, yet *now*

is a good time to support that effort vocally, publicly and repeatedly. :kick:

14. We thought we elected a leader
now it turns out we need a leader to lead us in urging our elected leader to lead.

Do I have that right?
