Okay, I Finally Get What's Happening With The Public Option
Obama cannot come out and say he'd veto a bill without the public option. That'd guarantee he gets no bill.

In the House versino there will be a public option and it will pass first.

In the Senate version there won't be a public option. Olympia Snowe and one or two other Republicans will join in on this bill.

In the conference committee, the public option gets added in.

In the mean time, the reality journalists need drama, so they keep pushing the "mirkiness" of Obama on the public option, hoping to get their drama. They pushed the loud screaming minority at the town halls for no other reason than the fact that wide eyed insane screamers plays for drama in reality journalism.

End of the day, the drama goes away and we get a bill that makes things a bit better, though nowhere near where things need to be.

Bottom line, we need about 64 Democratic Senators and about 15 more Congresspersons out of 2010 so we can revisit this shit in 2011.

Time to get back to fucking work because this shit ain't ever gonna be over. The Beckerwood Beckerheads will make certain of that...

1. Thatis about right except we only need 50 Senators to pass as long
as caucus members don't vote to uphold cloture.

Expect some face saving measure - probably lowering the amount of 'subsidy' so that blue dogs and a couple Republicans can say they have a great victory.

Bill passes with the public option.

4. Like I said, we need 64 Senators out of 2010
so we can get this shit done right in 2011 without the fucking drama.

The reality journalists will hate it, but fuck them

7. Nope, blue dogs count
Witha 64 seat majority, arm twisting enough to let 4 out on any bill will be easy.

9. I think that about sums it up. People on DU should know better than repeating the 60 needed myth.

2. Hope springs eternal.
And I hope you are right, WeDidIt. The House version does, as you suggest, create a "problem" for those who don't want the public option. K&R.

5. Oh I have no doubt it'll be nowhere near what's needed
It'll be a bit better than what we have and people in income levels from about $35K - $150K/year will experience the biggest benefits, but that's the target audience.

13. Why can't The House WAIT to see if the Senate drops the Public Option first?
THEN, if the Senate doesn't include it, The House can VOTE DOWN the entire package.

A half-assed bill will only SERVE The Insurance Companies.

EVERYONE will have to pay and pay ... it won't matter if you have insurance if you can NOT pay the premiums.

The very poor and the super-rich will be "sitting pretty" with regard to health care, while those of us in THE MIDDLE CLASS will continue to go bankrupt.

RESULT: Eradication of our middle class.
