"But let's stop pretending that the fierce opposition from the right isn't racism. It is"
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 08:49 AM by wndycty
Thank you Mary Mitchell

Beck's goal in Jones case: Scare whites
Green jobs czar was great fit for post, but did right thing to quit

-snip-
Jones is being sacrificed in the same way the Rev. Wright was sacrificed.

Ironically, Beck, who had the gall to call the president of the United States a racist, is using the race card to alarm whites.

African Americans aren't the ones who are crying because Obama has a platform to talk to all of America's children about doing well in school.

And African Americans aren't losing sleep at night worrying that radicals have taken over the White House.

Although the Obama administration has bent over backward trying to gain the acceptance of distrustful whites, so far it isn't happening.

Beck and people like him can't seem to accept that John McCain lost the election and a black man and the people of his choosing are running the country.

Given the critical battle under way over health care, Jones did the right thing.

But let's stop pretending that the fierce opposition from the right isn't racism.

It is.
-end-

7. Anyone who thinks the Repukes wouldn't be doing the same thing to HRC
or John Edwards, is delusional. Then we'd have to call it 'sexism' or 'hairism' or something else.

Haters hate.

4. You are so right, racisim is at work and
I'm afraid for the next year it will be ever present and will make the presidents job more difficult. It is not just conservatives, or extreme right at work, there are many in the left and our own party who are also racist! Difficult times ahead, I hope this country wakes up soon, or better yet grows up!

6. K & R
It seems only a few folks in positions to speak out are willing to speak the truth regarding the REAL outrage. Stevie Wonder can see what's going on here.

9. race is making it easy on the ptb.
the racial dog whistle can be heard from a very long way off. i think for those at the top, it is more about money and power, but racism is a tool for them that makes the whole resistance too easy. they practically whip them selves up with nothing more than a couple of bread crumbs.

10. Nope. White appointees might not fare much better.
Mr. Jones just comes equipped with a convenient carrying handle for the real racists, a way to motivate a few more to the Right's cause.

15. meh, anytime someone questions where Obama "is from" or "was schooled" is admittedly xenophobic +
trying to hide their racism. there are plenty of people crying and nashing their teeth and visibly upset about waht "that man" is "doing to this country". and when they can't cite any specifics- or mutter any more than "socialism" and are hyperventilating, frothing at the mouth and hating the man and not the ploicies , you can bet your bottom dollar racism is a big part of where their fear comes from. People don;t get all riled up for no reason- they juts know better than to admit it.

11. I think we know it is, but saying it is just gives them more ammo & makes them worse we should only
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 11:23 AM by GivePeaceAchance
just point holes in every argument they make against us. When we bring in the 'r' word which yeah sure there is plenty of it, it just inflames them more. Remember last year when there were lots of calls of sexism some cases they were right but it did ruffle feathers of theose that weren't. I'm mixed race so I don't doubt it's racism, it just how we handle it, is all I'm saying.
