I try to avoid television as much as possible.

Any pre-indications of which VP candidate they want to run the country next?

1. I'm betting Romney is the de facto candidate unless someone else comes out of the woodwork.

Fortunately, the many of the worst RW nuts think he's a heathen.

6. If I have to say someone, I'll say Romney.
He was and will be popular with big-money Republican backers, who want someone consistent, reliable on the issues, and stable. Look for them to coalesce early against Palin, whom they see as erratic, unlettered, and bumpkinish. She'd need to sweep the religious zealot vote to have a chance against Romney, but Huckabee's in, and he'll divide that vote with her.

7. Romney. The Happy Hypocrite.
... the dude who advocated one set of policies for his run for Mass. guv, and a completely OPPOSITE set of policies for his presidential run.

Question of 2012 ... which Romney will show up?

9. It would surprise me if Cheney doesn't have charges against him by 2012.
And then I woke up to the corrupt political system we have.

11. I would bet on a retiring Senator or Congressman.
Someone's last hurrah. Like Dole in 1996.

12. Interesting. I always considered Bob Dole a 'throwaway' candidate.
He didn't stand a chance.

Perhaps if the economy has recovered and people are working again the R's will put out a throwaway.

Like Sarah Palin. LOL

16. Dole can be called "throwaway" in the sense of "a sure loser."

But he did have the standing to get nominated, as the second-place contestant after Bush in '88, and as Senate Republican leader (where he was quite effective). And Republicans always choose a candidate who has great standing--you can call them "royalists" that way--it's Democrats who suprise the country with a Kennedy, a McGovern, a Carter, a Clinton, or an Obama. Going by standing, the GOP should choose Palin or Romney next time, and Romney's clearly favored in the "money primary."

13. CNN has been subtly pushing Pawlenty the last several days,
whom I would not consider a real threat unless Obama screws up pretty bad.

17. Pawlenty--no charisma.
He doesn't have national support to draw on in the way Palin and Romney do, not having run nationally in '08, as they did. If Pawlenty makes the race in '12, he'll be an also-ran.

14. Last week there were mumblings of Mitch Daniels...
Bush Budget Disaster, um I mean Director in his first term.
Now Governator of Indiana and privatizing everything in sight.

Jeb was here to talk about the Florida edumakashun model and tongues started wagging about a Jeb/Mitch or Mitch/?? ticket in 2012.

:puke: There will be precious little left of this state by 2012, and if he gets his hands on the rest of the country ... Katie bar the door. :(

He was very questionable to run for re-election for Senate.

I think he's making a move to position himself for a run now that Sanford's shot himself in the foot.

21. I still don't think they have an idea who it will be
Romney still isn't liked by half the Rethug base. But with the way base Repulicans have been acting lately, they may gather around Romney and just hold their nose and vote for him. They'd rather have a Mormon in office (who many of them probably despise), than a socialist, nazi, communist Black man who isn't even an American.

24. Republicans
They always go with a front runner. Now while Mccain looked like he might crash In summer of 2007 he was always co-front runner with Saint Rudy.

That being said the Republican nominee will be one of the 3 who polling best.Romney,Palin, and Huckabee.

Romney would likely lose the Iowa caucus to Palin or Huchabee but would win NH Primary.Probally would
lose the SC Primary but If he could win the Florida Primary he can win the nomination.Obama can make
mencemeat of Romney.Romney has totally flipflopped on social Issues. His campagins In MA he was prochoice, and when he tried to beat Ted Kennedy he ran to the left of Ted Kennedy on Gay Rights.
Some right wingers won't like Romney because he Is Mormon. Now he can be closer than Mccain In nevada
and Michigan If Momons come out for him.His we should run government like a business can be used
against him.I Believe Obama could beat romney here In Missouri and If Hispanics come out big Arizona
could also be In play.Romney Is the Bob Dole of 2012.

Palin would a gift to Democrats as the Republican nominee.Obama could win Florida,Indiana, and NC by larger margin plus pick up Missouri, and Arizona and possibly Montana and eather Georgia or SC.

Huchabee's anti Immigrant stance and AntiObama jokes would mean strong Hispanic turnout for Obama.
This means a possable pickup of Arizona, and possable strong showings In Montana, and Missouri.

Between Palin and Huchabee one of them will win Iowa Caucus, and win the SC Primary. To win the
nomination one of them have to beat Romney In Florida.

Pawlenty would lose his own state to Obama. If Gingrich runs he Is running to be the new Cheney.
Jindel and Jeb Bush will not run.Bachman Is a joke.Maybe as Palin's running mate.Cheney Isn't running.
Even Republicans know he would be a disaster.

Romney and Huchabee lost to Mccain.Do you really think they can beat Obama?

and may I say please Republicans nominatee Palin!
