Boustany to give GOP response to Obama health-care speech
by The Associated Press
Tuesday September 08, 2009, 1:42 PM

U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany of Lafayette will give the Republican rebuttal to President Barack Obama's national speech Wednesday about health care.

Boustany, a retired heart surgeon, said in a statement that he will offer recommendations for "commonsense reforms that Republicans and all Americans can stand behind."

Obama will speak to a joint session of Congress, hoping to restart stalled health care overhaul efforts. The month-long congressional recess was marked by heated town hall meetings about the Democrats' health care proposals.

Boustany was first elected in 2004, representing the 7th Congressional District covering southwest Louisiana and Acadiana.

Boustany won't be the first Louisianian to offer a rebuttal to an Obama speech. Gov. Bobby Jindal gave the GOP response after the President's February address to Congress. Jindal's speech was widely panned.

6. "Just Say No"
Its the classic republican response and it should hold the short attention span members of the gop base.

7. If he uses the Katrina response as an example of how government can't do anything right...
that just proves my theory that the Katrina response was set up to fail just to keep the R's anti-government talking points from losing effectiveness. Jindal's already done it.

bobby jindal did.

What's wrong with these people who elect tools like boustany?
