Washignton Post: Obama to offer "nuanced support" for public option tonight
Washington Post: "President Obama will spell out his plan to overhaul the U.S. health-care system in a nationally televised speech to Congress on Wednesday night, providing more specifics about what he wants lawmakers to pass and a sweeping description of his reform goals, including nuanced support for a "public option," according to senior White House officials.

Briefing reporters hours before the speech, aides said Obama will endorse the option of a government-run health insurance program -- a controversial element of the debate -- but will call it "not an end in itself" while saying he is open to other specific ideas that have been floated as alternatives that could encourage insurance competition."

5. I don't want "nuanced," I want full-throated.
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 04:04 PM by Blue_In_AK
He's the f'ing president, for Christ's sake. Why can't he just come out and say what he wants and insist that he gets it? He could take lessons from the Bush Administration on that score.

ed. In deference to posters above, I will draw my final conclusions after the speech, but I'm not holding my breath.

9. I sure hope that we don't hear more "thread the needle" crap...
pick one dammit, one way or the other. Quit trying to have it both ways. And if it's not the position we want, at least we know what you stand for and the principals that took you there. Fine. I can respect that, not support it, but respect it.

Well, hoping that the reports are wrong. Will wait for the actual speech.

12. Yep!!!
Absolutely. The evil Barack Obama invited the Kennedy family to the speech tonight so he could look them straight in the face and say "I never liked Teddy's plan so tough shit, you're going to get what I give you".

Please, you folks are a hoot. The same fucking media that 99% of the folks here scream about day in and day out with their bullshit spewing of lies is now suddenly being believed because it makes Obama look bad? Sorry, but they don't know shit about what he's going to say tonight and neither do you. But alas, the agenda is and has been quite clear for a long time by many around here.

26. ...and whose OFA team is encouraging "watch parties" tonight
I'm sure that's just so the President can send everyone who organizes and lends their support to his initiatives a hearty "screw you"!

Yeah. That's GOTTA be it.

21. Washington Post is good for one thing, and that is as toilet paper.
Well, maybe not that. For kitty litter?

I will watch the President myself and see how "nuanced" his support for the public option is.

25. I love nuances. I also love riddles, gibberish and hearing people speak gobbledegook.

People will hate him if he speaks directly and clearly states his position.
