"While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable."
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 09:31 PM by jefferson_dem
Scumbag Joe Wilson tries to apologize.

EDIT (to include entire statement):

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

it wasn't a matter of disagreeing. You can't disagree with fact, either, of course. That is a long term problem with Rethuglicans; they've for too long believed that truth is flexible, that it conforms to what they wish it were rather than what it is.

What a lousy excuse for a human being. He should rot in hell.

Yep, I'm letting my emotions get away with me. But I'm at home with only my computer, not representing the people and acting like a totally uncouth bastard in front of the president, the US, and the world.

23. Cleanest Republican apology in memory
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 09:39 PM by nuxvomica
He didn't fully apologize, of course, but at least he didn't do the "I'm sorry if some may have been offended" thing. Relatively speaking, this is awesome. Let's watch to see how long it takes him to backpedal.

Still too weak, but more than I expected.

30. That's what comes from at least some small measure of spontaneity
If a Republican doesn't have enough time to actually plan an apology it may come dangerously close to sounding genuine.

32. Involuntary or not, the apology isn't "pathetic." It was quite necessary
after his deranged and angry outburst at the statement of simple fact.

34. The first draft of his apology was more revealing:

- - -

"While my public outburst did get me into a bit of political hot water, I nevertheless remain proud as punch to be a bigoted and regressive cretin still fighting the Civil War."

- - -

His staff prevailed upon him to scrap that version and use the newer one at the last minute.

35. We're all STILL waiting for an apology for what he said about Strom Thurmond's daughter ...
A blogger notes what Addison ("Joe") Wilson said when Strom Thurmond's African-American daughter was revealed ...

http://www.uexpress.com/asiseeit/?uc_full_date=20031219

"...It is the feigned surprise that vexes me most -- the stunned silence, the equivocation, the angry denials that followed the revelation that Strom Thurmond had bedded a black maid and fathered a black child. South Carolina state Sen. John Courson, who huffed, "This is ludicrous," and U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, who called the revelation "unseemly," have a distinct affection for dishonesty."

He's a racist, pure and simple. He was an aide to Strom Thurmond earlier in his career... Strom taught him well.
