"YOU LIE" was the best thing that could have happened in that speech tonight.
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 10:46 PM by RoadRage
Even many republicans were agreeing with much of what Obama was saying tonight. A majority of independents were certainly on the presidents side tonight.

So when a white male republican screams "YOU'RE A LIAR" at the president, when a LARGE majority of Americans are clearly on the President's side.. it only further displays how utterly out of touch the Republican party is with this country. It proves that they weren't even going to let him get the entire speech out before trying to muddy the waters.

The top line that will be replayed over & over & over on all of the media outlets will be a white male republican screaming at the President in the most unprofessional and embarrassing moment in televised presidential speech history.

Congrats Repubs... keep on truckin!

7. And the way the President responded (by not responding) made him grow 10 feet tall.
What a class act. The Republicans make themselves look like trash.

13. Great point that no one has mentioned. But you're right. I noticed that...and
was so glad he didn't say anything. He and Pelosi and Biden just "looked" a really long time, placing who had yelled that.

Sweet.

15. Oh yeah? I gotta replay it. I'm sure you're right. But he kept his cool,
while giving him 'the look.' I would not wanna be on the other end of that.

3. He played into the President's plan even better than anyone could have expected...
Just TWO days ago the President said....

"But I've got a question for them: What's your answer? What's your solution? The truth is, they don't have one. It's do nothing."

And tonight Joe Wilson answered!!! Loud and clear!!!!

4. It was some sort of Cosmic
blowback for all the Town Hall Screamers lumped into one little joe wilson raging from the Congressional Floor during an Address on Health Care Reform by the President of the United States..and will go down in the history books as the icon for the republicons of that era.

9. Obama handled it very well
The look he sent was priceless. His left elbow sort of kicked out a little - oh yeah, he was ticked off. But he gathered himself in a second and said, "That's not true".

No way around it, it was a terrible moment. But like you said, it will be replayed many times over. It'll shame the Republicans to those who know better than the audience Wilson was playing to.

12. Oh.. i disagree..
the Media likes to show contraversy, fighting, opposition. Those two words summed it up better then anything else...

It'll get plenty of airtime IMO.

17. I don't know. I noticed one network completely ignore it.
Of course it embarasses them, but still, not a peep. That means it's so embarassing to them that they might try and pass it by.

They will immediately go back to Van Jones Van Jones Van Jones tomorrow as the network I peeped at tonight did.

Oh it will definitely get some air time, but not like you would think.

19. I agree it helped Dems and hurt Repugs. And for what it's worth,
Todd and Gregory both agreed with you as well during their discussion with Andrea Mitchell. Not that anyone particularly cares what those two think, but it's rare that they take a strong stand against the GOP on anything, so it's telling that they did today.
