My Email To Senator Ben Nelson

I'm a Nebraskan and Ben Nelson is actually my Senator. Go easy on me, I'm kind of young (if a 27 year old can say that). I've volunteered and donated to Kerry and Obama, but I've never actually written an email to a Senator.

Anyways, here it is and I'll share any response I get (not holding my breath, though):

Senator Nelson,

I am writing you as one of your many constituents. I would like to express to you my hope that you will support President Obama's Health Care reform bill. It is time for reform to help the working class in America fight back against the biggest scam in the country, private insurance.

In my life I have known people who have been denied coverage because their sought after treatment was deemed 'experimental,' because of preexisting conditions, or they were simply priced out of the market. I have seen their lives turned upside down because of health costs that were passed off to them by private insurance. While watching this, we have all been slapped in the face with stories of health care executives earning salaries of $100 million or more. They are laughing at us all the way to the bank.

I would like to know, what kind of reform do you feel is necessary in health care? What do you disagree with in the current health care bill? What common ground would you like to attain on this issue? What can we, as your constituents, expect from you in our country's effort to improve health care (i.e.- what health care improvements will you fight for, etc.)?

I am a hard working, healthy 27 year old who has voted for you every chance I've had. I plan on being a Nebraskan for my entire life and feel that you have been a stellar representative for our great state. So many with my point of view will not get confrontational or cause scenes at town hall meetings, but I ask of you to not let our even-keeled temperament allow our voices to be drowned out.
