Well, Fox News is good for something...(rant)
They were nice enough to repeat the joint session address, and I was sure to change channels when it was over so I didn't have to listen to their "response. I think Mr.President Obama knocked one out of the park on that one. Lots of backing from his side, and only one cheer from the repukes, on the malpractice thing. But the moment for me was when he talked of Teddy. My eyes got a little wet, I must say, and I hope the "Christers" as my Dad calls them, listen good on that one. It is a moral issue, and nothing else, yet I didn't see the GOP cheering much. They mostly sat there like Obama told them they weren't getting cupcakes for recess, or they didn't get a passing grade on their science project. Even saw some sneers and head shakes, and Cantor sitting there texting his mistress or something. What is wrong with these people? Are they really concerned with the total well being of this country? I somehow doubt it. He really chewed their asses out good, but do you think they will now get behind the country, grow the fuck up and act like adults? Somehow, I think not. It pains me actually, to see human beings so narrow minded and twisted, and set in a frame of mind that they can't see the light from the darkness of their heads up there asses. I am SOOO grateful that I have been given a sense of compassion, that I can cry at the memory of a person like Ted Kennedy, who gave me COBRA so I can still have health care, even though expensive, a year after my last job. Mr.Obama has that sense of compassion, I believe, and I know he is not so reckless to attempt an overnight change to a Canadian system of Universal Health Care. It didn't happen overnight there either, and Tommy Douglas knew that. He also took a lot of nasty criticism over it, yet held his ground, and persevered. He is now a national Icon up there, and known as the most important person in Canada's history. More than the military hero's, more than any leader or hockey player. I know in my heart, that America is now going down that road to health care for everyone. Once people get a taste of the "Public Option", and there will be one, it will sound the death knell of the present money grubbing insurance tyrants. Rest in Peace, Edward Kennedy, your dream is coming. A footnote, the best method to reduce malpractice insurance to zero, and the repukes know this, is universal health care.
In Canada, there is no malpractice costs for doctors!

2. Complete and utter lies thanks for coming

I worked with Doctors from Canada and they completely reject all of this bullshit.

The approval rating of Canadians for their health system is 86%.

The Conservative Party of Canada considers their national health service "a national treasure"

Canadians consider the American approach of leaving some people out of coverage by design to be barbaric.

enjoy the pizza.

7. Heard from an American that lives in Canada
and she debunked this lie. Said they could not understand how the USA did not have the same health care.

By the way there are people here waiting until they are close to death before they can get treatment because the cost are so high, and only when your on the edge of death will some hospitals admit you for treatment without insurance.

If you don't have the money for what? It is true that the system has it's problems, but I assure you, it works. The trouble is the many lobbyists that work Ottawa over the years have made a dent, helped by conservatives who still see the profits to be made from sick people. It has been under attack since Prime Minister Mulroney announced back in the eighties that it was "broken". I remember my Dad saying, "Here we go" and he was right. Lyin Brian had his eyes on the money to be had from private interests into the Tory election coffers, and opened the door to the present mess. You will hear some "horror stories" but the health act is firm if you read it, in universality, and coverage from cradle to grave. The fact is that in some places in Canada, there are shortages of some services because of the geographical nature of the country, but there are also ambulance and air ambulance services that can whisk you to a bigger center quickly if needed, and they are FREE. And yes, there are private clinics that offer payment for service, but these are outside the health care system, and can't take people under the system, they are either in or out, no in between. I find it odd that your friend can't get treatment for his condition, but unless it is very serious, and life threatening, they way it works is by urgency of your condition. It is true that there is a shortage of Doctors, but that is also because many doctors take advantage of the cheaper education system in Canada, then take off to the US for bigger bucks. It also depends on which province you live in. In Ontario, for instance, there is a larger population, and that province has been notorious it's problems, and there is a shortage here too of doctors. My Mother has had a hip replacement, 3 arm surgeries, a knee replacement, and numerous other surgeries in the past, and all have gone well, with minimum wait times, and not one dime for co-pays. The only expenses have been her TV and room phone. There is also the provision under the health care system there, that people can come to the US and get treatment, and it will be paid for by the system up there. I suggest you do some more reading and educate yourself on the things that are right with that system, and not judge by individual stories. It is by far, a much better system than what we have here, with a longer life expectancy, better over all care, including preventative medicine, it's free, with small premiums in some provinces, it's accessible, a person can see any doctor they want, or as many as they want,it's transferable across the nation, and you can walk into any clinic or hospitable and see a doctor with little or no wait time. I have to make an appointment a week in advance to see my doctor here, and usually wind up waiting for two hours before I see him! And I am limited to the doctors under my plan, which costs me $4000 a year with COBRA! nd that's without co-pays and extras!

18. You have the right...
to not read it then. I tend to be a bit long winded at times, but the person who OP'd seemed to be a bit out of touch. A topic like this is sometimes a bit more deep than birthers or death panels, and I am quite passionate about it. But it seems it was all for not. I am a bit naive when it comes to "trolls" and it seems the Op was one *sigh* I'll try to keep it shorter or ignore the trolls.:hi:

Really?

Then you're dumber than I thought.
