How insidious
I know Politico has been discussed many times on DU - and I try not to go there, but was just linked there, by an "article" on yahoo news. First the article characterized the President's speech last night as "combative". The word combative was a hyperlink to the Politico story on the speech last night. So now one website determines what and how the speech will be characterized?? And then it's reported as "news"?? I know I shouldn't be surprised, but it still angers me.

1. The combative parts were my favorite.
It is time to destroy the opposition.

3. I really feel Politico was established
solely for the purpose of would-be journalists and reporters who desire attention and who want to make the rest of us feel they know everything. It has become just another political tool.

4. Well, it was surprisingly combative.
This president dared to use the l-word to describe the lies circulating about reform. He even dared to reference the big insurers' profits as the key inefficiency a not-for-profit public option could eliminate.

Our president is willing, very nearly, to acknowledge the evils perpetrated by the executive and investor classes. That's powerful.

5. It is powerful, and obviously upsetting to those who have a vested interest
in seeing reform fail again. So, they must work to delegitimize what the President said by calling it combative.

8. Let 'em call it combative.
I think more Americans will be pleased to see the president almost unambiguously on their side against Big Insurance. This may be the time that the Right's uppity/combative meme backfires.
