Look at what Greta Van Susteren reports about Boustany’s malpractice suits:
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 10:20 AM by hedgehog
"Since 1992, Boustany has been sued for malpractice by eight separate patients. Boustany was found in fault by the state Medical Review Panel."

He was sued 8 times, he lost three times.
The details - a man who woke up from a heart by pass missing his left leg, a woman who went in for an angioplasty and ended up in the ICU and lost several toes before it was all said and done, a little girl subjected to unnnecesary surgery and ended up with post operative infections and renal failure.

Boustany himself has resorted to the courts for redress:

"Boustany sued for “mental anguish” over an unsatisfactory pool resurfacing.

Boustany sued a construction company for “mental anguish” over the loss of the use of his swimming pool. After the company had resurfaced the interior of his pool in April 1993, the surface blistered, cracked and discolored. (Boustany v. Louisiana Concrete Resurfacing, Case No. 931831, 15th Judicial District Court, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana) It is of note that the Boustanys’ home is worth nearly a half-million dollars, while the median home value in Louisiana’s Seventh Congressional district is $78,100. (U.S. Census Bureau)"

Besides being a surgeon, Boustany is quite the businessman:

"Boustany was sued by his former partner for unpaid wages."

I'm thinking it's not a coincidence the Repukes used Boustany to rebut Obama's address because Boustany is related to Vicki Kennedy:

"Southwest Louisiana Congressman Charles Boustany is Reggie's cousin. He said he has no idea whether Reggie plans on running for Kennedy's senate seat." from this link:
http://www.kplctv.com/Global/story.asp?S=11008145

The above link is just one of several that mention the two are cousins, it's just the first I could quickly find.

Also mentioned here on DU by grassfed:"Boustany, cousin to Vicki Kennedy and an across-the-aisle friend of the Kennedy's, was chosen in part to undermine sympathy generated for Ted Kennedy's health care work in Obama's speech." (the linkee:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x368181 Thanks, grassfed )

9. This is horrible
This alone should confirm the need for health care reform.

And any tort reform should look at these examples and to consider the outcome with and without.

10. Look at this - apparently it 's rare for a doctor to lose the law suit 3 times:
The analysis also found that 1.7% of doctors (14,293) are responsible for 27.5% of all malpractice awards; 14, 293 have made three or more payments, totaling $11 bln.

14. Wow. It looks like he has a really bad problem nicking and slicing important arteries.
No wonder he's now in a different line of work.

Either he doesn't know the circulatory system well enough or his hands are crap.
