RW rant on President Obama
I just received this rant from one of my conservative friends. Can someone help me with a response? Or direct me to a previous discussion of the blog on DU. I did a search first but couldn't find it.

"Factual Analysis of BO's 6 mo."

http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2009/08/6-month-evaluation-of-obama-presidency.html

Please provide details, I know enough to call it a bunch of right wing-nut BS, but that will just prove to my friend that I'm a Commie socialist, which he already knew.

(I'd start by saying that if it was actually written by a CFO, it's suspect. They're the folks that messed up the economy in the first place.)

Thanks.

1. I wouldn't bother analyzing it (unless such things bring you pleasure) . . .
I'd reply that this is a compilation of rumor, previously debunked conspiracy theories, opinions stated as facts, and tinfoil hat wackiness that sensible people just ignore.

2. 10 to 15% will believe any lie they have been told about Obama. And will cling to it after it is
proven false. With all their might.

3. it's a lot of laughable projection, as usual
god, just substitute "bush" and a few other words into it and you have a more factual rant about that moron and his occupation of the presidency

4. You know what's really funny?
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 06:57 PM by FormerDittoHead
For some reason, because the right doesn't have FACTS on their side, AND THEY KNOW IT, they're preoccupied with talking *about* "facts" and "logic".

Yet a cursory GLANCE at this "Factual Analysis" diatribe and it's one OPINION after the next...

Too boring to go through. You can spend your time debunking their shit, they just keep making it up.

And that's what they WANT you to do - spin your wheels. Prove everything they say is a lie, it won't change them.

Don't spin your wheels. When we don't get anything done, THEY WIN.

5. Don't bother refuting this putrid mess....
Just email back and tell him that you thank him for the info, and you are really, really sorry that Bush, Cheney, McCain, and Palin failed in exposing Obama for what he really is.

After all, it would seem to me that if Obama is the terrible human that this article suggests, then Bush, Cheney, McCain, and Palin really left their supporters to the wolves, didn't they.....Cripes....you'd think Darth Cheney would have come out from hiding place and at least raised the birth certificate issue! I thought they were all about keeping America safe....

8. Why are you posting this here?
for your 72nd post?

Why don't you go post it at King Glenn.com, where it will be appreciated?

9. Why?
I was seriously asking for ammo to respond.

I was raised in a union family, and have voted democratic ever since Johnson/Goldwater, the first election I was old enough to vote.

Although I've been on DU over 3 years, I don't post much, and now I know why.

10. Why only 73 posts in over 4 years on DU?
I asked a civil question, hoping for some ammo to counter the RW crap my friends send me.

MrModerate and emulatorloo gave some sage advice, just ignore them. That's hard for me to do. I still wish someone would help with the facts.

Solomon & Doctor_J are upset because I asked for advice.

Reading the info on DU is a good way to find out what's going on in the world of politics.

Getting flamed for being less than up-to-date is a good reason to not post.

11. don't take it personally -
every "newb" goes through it. The fact that you've "been here" for four years, doesn't really count as most people just see the post count.

And that doesn't seem to matter either in some cases. I have just over 10000 posts and was accused of being a "rightwing nutjob" just a couple of weeks ago. :eyes:

13. Just let it roll off you.
I too suggest that you let it go - because you cannot "debunk" someone's opinion or surreal delusion. Often they ask you to prove a negative, which is impossible. (Prove to me Santa Claus doesn't exist etc)

Save your energy for the things you are passionate about and work toward those goals, not draining yourself by trying to "reason" with someone who thinks President Obama is a Nazi, Commie, Fascist, Muslim, Kenyan who is the anti-Christ. You just can't reason with that.

:hi:

14. Don't sweat it
Suspicions and tempers are running very high right now. Pres Obama is being asked to defend lies, smears and innuendo every freaking day.

President Carter said something that was his opinion and all of a sudden - according to the press, the entire left is calling everybody who doesn't support the Pres a racist - how do you defend against crap like that? Just let it go - the email and the treatment you're getting here. The people that would believe that email aren't going to be persuaded by anything.

15. I suggest this.
Disclaimer: I didn't click your link, as I really need to keep an eye on my blood pressure these days.

Dear friend,

Clearly you are as delusional as your self-proclaimed champion, Orly Taitz. You and she seem to share an ideological stance which prevents you from recognizing the truth, even when it slaps you on your face. You have my sympathy, but I will waste no time in debunking your lies with truth, as the truth does not conform to your world view and so will be ignored.

16. Want practical advice? Step one: Google specific phrase in the screed.
By specific, I mean do a search with the keywords in between quotation marks, just to see who-all's picked the thing up.

in your case, I googled "He and Michelle have turned out to be quintessential Ivy League" and there were about 100 hits, most all of them blogs.

Funny how this piece is supposedly authored by a "CEO friend" in the link you provided, yet here:

http://insidetexas.com/forums/showthread.php?p=90080

the author is supposedly:

"Jimmie V. Adams
L-3 Communications Corp
Senior Vice President, Washington Operations,
General, USAF (Ret)"

I'd say when you have a piece that doesn't have anyone actually OWNING UP TO AUTHORSHIP, that's crap.

Throw that back at your idiot conservative "friends." It oughta keep 'em busy for awhile.
