Bush Poisoned the Well, We Are Still Suffering
He drove the level of political discourse into levels of disgust. With his refusal to acknowledge the country in opposition to his policies, it worsened. When he trampled the Constitution and expanded his idea of the unitary executive, it went off the cliff. He earned our disdain and our disrespect. When he should have been impeached and arrested, he smirked and winked.

His inability to experience empathy, his blatant disregard for the reality of human suffering disturbed us as a country. He and his cronies broke this country. All of the animosity towards him was earned.

But now....Now, the rabid right uses the legitimate disdain we felt towards chimpy as an excuse to disrespect President Obama. Whether the motivations are rooted in racism(which they are) or in hate of everything liberal(which they are) they turn to bush as the standard.

Bush and his entire illegitimate pResidency lowered the level of the office. Obama is attempting to elevate the office again. It is a tough, steep road. Bush left it at the bottom dirty cliff.

1. Ya know though, I think that some of these asses were just waiting...
for an excuse to show their true colors..... Like Wilson last night... He is a racist plain and simple and there are many others out there on "Right Wing" side.

4. He tossed in a lot more poison, but ...
Rethugs had already been poisoning it for some time. Remember the Clinton impeachment?

5. Yes - but I still think it started with Nixon and Watergate.
Then Reagan drove the country backwards with a smile. Bill's Monica Moment allowed for payback time for Watergate. The Bush years then really took the cake.

6. After The Great Depression, The Republican Party Was Largely A Minority Party
Roosevelt and Truman won 6 consecutive terms, and the Dems controlled the Congress for most of the 20th century. The only way the Republicans could get back into power was to appeal to and win over disaffected White Southern voters who were angry that the Democratic party passed Civil and Voting Rights legislation, aka the infamous Southern Strategy.

In essence, the Republicans have become the party of the greedy and the selfish, and racist White people.

11. I dislike the trashing of Democrats that goes on here
But part of me does not understand why they did not impeach Bush.

There had to be something they could have used. The claim of unitary executive was enough for me.
