Poll Finds Wilson Vulnerable

With just two words -- "You lie!" -- Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) "went from being pretty safe for re-election to one of the most vulnerable Republican incumbents in the country," a new Public Policy Polling survey finds.

Rob Miller (D) edges Wilson, 44% to 43%, in a survey conducted Thursday night and Friday morning.

Key finding: A majority of voters, 62%, in SC-2 disapprove of Wilson's outburst while just 29% were not bothered by it.

1. 29% were not bothered by it.
Same people, hey? Even in SC, they are at that low a figure!

2. There's got to be enough African-Americans in that district to pull it out
I hope the DNC, Move-On, etc will be on the ground in that district getting people registered to vote and to the polls. I know there are plenty of minority voters in that district that probably haven't voted before. This is a winnable district. We can kick that bastard out of Congress for good.

5. May there be many more macaca moments to come.
When the first Repuke uses the N-word (and you know it's coming) we can stop using the phrase "macaca moment" and replace it with "racist outing", as it really should be phrased anyway.

6. It'll take an 8% swing to oust him
Not impossible, but improbable during a mid-term election.

7. Oh we can hope and help make it happen. These folks are not a crazed as Mean Jean ...
Schmidt's constituents.

I hope Joe Wilson is unseated - it would shut down a little of "the crazy."

10. That's usually a good strategy....
In this guy's case, his margins have been dropping since 2002- which tells us that he's not considered the most sterling example of a congress critter even by South Carolina standards.

9. Yeah, and how many of those converts didn't even bother to vote in the last election?
Sure they supported him (and only 44%? Really?), but they didn't bother to haul their fat asses to the polls last time around 'cause the (R) win was inevitable.
