President George W. Bush and Laura Bush greet President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama at the White House November 10, 2008 in Washington, DC. On January 20th Obama will be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States.

I, of course, would NEVER wear the same outfit twice :-)

3. It amazes me when I see all these photos of events from the same day. They are just go, go, go
constantly. They must sleep like babies once they hit the bed. Truly an incredibly hard working Pres and First Lady.

4. Great!
I think this is the first photo of the Obama's entertaining guests in the White House residence. Certainly the first I've seen.

I've always liked the Yellow Oval Room. It's bright and cheery, and the view from the Truman Balcony is spectacular.

My favorite is the one of Jack and Jackie. Did the woman know how to pose or what? Look at how her foot is placed.

(not to mention the dress, unlike some of the things worn by other F Ladies on the page, will never go out of style.)

21. That's why you go to "finishing school" to learn how to pose
and how to cross your legs while sitting and where to keep your elbows while eating and how to gracefully accept a man holding a door for you to pass.

All things that today will be "thumbed down" on DU, like addressing others as "Sir" and "Ma'am"

14. It's the play of light - creates mini spotlights above the subjects in a circle; from the bright
splash of yellow on the sofa behind the princess, to the light over her head, to the reflected light in the mirror, and to the bouquet of daffodils behind the president, creating these little mini spotlight/bursts of light; coupled with the vertical objects that draw the eye upward - the tree on the left, the picture, the candelabra and mirror over the fireplace help "ground" the picture against the weight of the dark clothing at the bottom of the picture; the two navy suits on either side of the picture create balance, the subjects are sitting in a circle - all draw the eye upward and around - creating a harmonious, circular effect. Very nice pix, imo.

25. setting issues aside for the moment, I'm damned proud that we have Barack Obama . . .
as the face of our country on the international scene . . . the difference between him and GWB is so vast that it's almost incomprehensible . . . at last we have an intelligent and articulate leader who we know will never embarrass us with other nations . . . and for that I am truly thankful . . .
