Year 1994. A man opened fire at the White House. 29 shots fired. Eric Holder: "very disturbing"

According to the Washington Post:

My first thought was "racism," until I read:

WASHINGTON POST (11-18-1994):

By Toni Locy

Francisco Martin Duran, the Colorado man who allegedly opened fire on the White House last month, was charged Thursday with attempting to assassinate President Clinton after several friends and co-workers told investigators that he had said he wanted to kill the president.

Even though those people have now come forward with the information, U.S. Attorney Eric H. Holder Jr. had harsh words for them Thursday during a news conference announcing Duran's indictment by a federal grand jury.

Today, the man serves a 40 year sentence.

3. Old articles that nobody remembered
Have you heard anyone cite that incident within the context of armed man that go near the President?

Is it because the race card suffers if the incident is cited?

Edited on Sat Sep-12-09 05:32 PM by georgian style
The race card, my friend. The race card argument is dealt a blow if this is not disappeared from our memories.

Irrtional attacks against Obama=racism
Irrational attacks against Clinton=old articles.

11. IT's not about Race.....
IT's about sex and impotency.

Quoting a poster here from a few days ago....
when a DUer wondered whether the intense Hate from the other side
for a brand new President;
one who hasn't allowed our country to be attacked,
nor started a trillion dollar war with the wrong country,
nor allowed a city to drown....literally,
nor presided over the meltdown of our financial markets,
nor spend a 600,000 Billion surplus, nor put us in a hole
by giving out tax cuts to the wealthy without paying for them,
nor made our name trash throughtout the world,
could be eminating from the fact that these assholes are projecting
their own qualities (authoritarian, ill informed, and plain mean and selfish)
onto the current President....

This was her response:

1. I think it's a whole lot more basic than that -
I don't think it even gets to the matter of empathy, or compassion, or even a sense of responsibility to their constituents.

I think it's mostly a matter - and this is just about the males - of being confronted by a powerful, confident, brilliant black man who owns their sorry asses in every way, and who also - almost as an afterthought - makes the women, the white women, THEIR women, swoon, albeit secretly.

Their meager little dicks shrivel even more whenever that Big Black Buck appears, and takes over every situation. He's been anointed by the American electorate, who put him into that Oval Office without any controversy at all, and he's wearing his mantle of power and strength and courage quite well.

You get the distinct impression that there is some serious romantic activity in the White House, something that's been lacking for a long, long time, and Bill Clinton doesn't count.

These guys watch Obama work the world, and they just DIE! Inside their pants, inside their heads, they DIE. He is their superior on every measurable level, and some that cannot be measured, and they know it.

They know it, and all they can do is hiss and jeer and make playground noises. They're impotent, in every possible way, Barack Obama's continued existence is a personal rebuff to each of them - they all take it personally, on an emotional level - and they don't know what to do with any of it.

Ultimately, everything is about sex........................

Glenn Greenwald: Is the Right's attack on Obama's legitimacy new or unprecedented?

Warning: Not a race-baiting piece: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/09/12/conservatives/index.html

I don't seem to remember you agreeing when gays thought that we might know more about homophobia than straight folk do.

But was I was supposed to be somewhere agreeing with you on something in order to be allowed to say what I'm saying in reference to this topic here? I don't recall ever saying that straight folks know more about Homophobia than Gay Folks...if I follow what you are attempting to say.

27. No but your sure did argue the point of gay people knowing more
when we complained about the likes of Warren being invited to the Inaguration as a featured speaker. I sure do recall you stating that it wasn't homophobic and that we had no right to say it was. You may not have said straight people knew homophobia better but your sure did say that the knowledge was at least equal.

White House? That is why I said your post was sick.

Many of us lived thru the assasination of JFK, MLK, RFK. There are a lot of crazies out there, I do not want to read cute headlines about guns in the White House

21. No progressive...
would refer to a "top progressive blogger in the US." No member of any political faction would refer to a top opinion leader of his faction--that is something an outsider does when he's in a rush to end the argument to his advantage. And it's silly.

Edited on Sat Sep-12-09 06:52 PM by Canuckistanian
The president was not black.

Therefore, all attacks against presidents are not racially motivated.

Brilliant. Can I quote you in a philosophical logics discussion?
