You can learn a lot from Obama's smiley-smirk during the Joe Wilson episode.
If you'll notice, right after Joe Wilson shouts his schmackety-schmack about Obama lying or some such made-up garbage, Obama has a little smiley-smirk. He could have raged against the machine or spoke truth to power or threw a fit or pointed his finger, but he had a smiley-smirk instead. This is because he's exceedingly wise. He knew that Joe Wilson had just shot himself in the foot by acting rude-ass and was going to get 0wned and forced to apologize, plus it made the Republicans look like babies. Protip: don't interfere or risk a thing while your opponents are destroying themselves.

1. Step into my parlor...........
..... said the PRESIDENT to the fly. ;)

I noticed the same thing. The whole thing could NOT have gone down any better. Sure, the President KNEW he was going to try and give the GOP one more coat of "do nothing" paint. I bet he wasn't counting on getting HELP from them! lol

2. I'm confused... "spoke truth to power"? He is President Barack Hussein Obama and that dolt
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 04:30 PM by mucifer
was one of 435 congressman. President Obama has the power!

BTW I do agree with you that the angry smile was amazing. Especially contrasted with Pelosi looking horrified and Biden looking like he was gonna tear that guys lungs out.

3. Well, I kinda make fun of that statement from time to time.
Often when people want to "speak truth to power", the power already knows the truth and just doesn't care. But I would argue that if we have three branches of government, Joe Wilson has some power that Barack Obama doesn't. After all, Obama had to approach Congress with this speech.

4. So many people are talking about that screen shot of
Biden, Pelosi, and Obama.

VP Biden has a wee bit of scowl, The Speaker Pelosi has her mouth open in shock, and the President has a tiny smile playing on his lips as if to say ..he knows these guys and it's nothing he doesn't expect.

8. and then they cave the next day
they give Wilson exactly what he wanted.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/09/immigrant-rights-group-baucus-and-conrad-caved-made-health-care-bill-more-expensive.php

I just got off the phone with Frank Sharry, Executive Director of the immigrant rights group America's Voice, who's not exactly pleased that Sens. Kent Conrad (D-ND) and Max Baucus (D-MT) are responding to the Joe Wilson scream incident by writing immigrant restrictions into health care legislation.

"Baucus and Conrad are caving on a fake issue that is trumped up by Republicans not to better the bill but to trump up opposition to reform," Sharry declared. "I just find it stunning that they would validate what Joe Wilson did."

9. The earlier bills still had an implicit immigrant restriction; no one really caved.
And who cares anyways, except enemies of the Democrats.
