What have you done to support the public option? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-14-09 12:40 AM by and-justice-for-all
I am interested in hearing what people are doing to help support the public option.
I have:
1) Attended a local rally for Universal Health Care 2) I have fliers I hand/leave out and posted to bulletin boards in town 3) Talk to people face to face. 4) I plan to go door to door with my fliers as well. 5) Called and emailed my reps, will continue to do so. 6) written a LTTE, but it has yet to be published. It was written and submitted thought. 7) Used Health Justice faxing option to send faxes to congress.
We do not get the use of the M$M, so we have to win the Public Option the same way we won the election; door to door.

4. Which of your neighbors will be voting on the reform bill? |
|
It wouldn't matter if I could personally inspire every living soul in three mile radius to jump up and down yelling "we want the public option" all day long, since our sole Rep. has made up his mind on the subject long ago. The difference between this and an election is that the people behind those knocked doors are going to vote in the election.

5. Every changed mind matters... |
|
It may get those people you have enlightened to call their Rep. and make a difference.

Really.
And yes, there were a bunch of us at his last town hall, well outnumbered by his teabagger friends.

6. My Rep and both of my Senators are ready to vote for a public option. |
|
So I'm left to talk shit about the White house when they look ready to sell out the public option to win support of the "centrists"... 1 of 300 million voices...

8. I've emailed just about all |
|
members of Congress. Signed petitions. Donated to good Democrats, and groups who are working for the cause.
(I have a facial injury that looks bad, and makes it difficult to speak clearly. I work at home, and only interact with folks in person when I must get groceries etc.)

Ive drank a couple of beer and railed at right-wingers for being idiots.
I don't really get hot and bothered by the entire plan. I find my idea of an acceptable "public option" unlikely to occur, so I don't want to find myself shilling, for free mind you, for an anemic and symbolic plan

13. Called and emailed my Senators. One Dem, One Republican |
|
The Democrat is extremely supportive of the public option, so I call and email him to thank him for representing his constituents.
The Republican is one of the ones who lies about the public option and encourages the extremists at town hall meetings. He gets a lot more calls and emails from me.

although I am sure Feingold, whose last email to me said "I agree with you" might be tired of hearing from me. I have donated to several of the progressive funds, I have attended a town hall, I have talked face to face, and would really like to attend the "Mad As Hell Doctors" rally.
I. AM. NOT. GIVING. UP.
edited to add: called Baucus and Reid's office, emailed Pelosi.
