At Least Joe Wilson Only Shouted Out to Obama's Face, Max Baucus Betrayed Obama Behind His Back. |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 10:28 AM by David Zephyr
I'd rather have someone tell me they hate me to my face than to work against me behind my back.
Who's worse? The guy on the other team who shouts at you or a member of your own team who drags your game out, undermines you so that you lose?
Baucus delivered his long-awaited "bi-partisan healthcare plan" without a single Republican on board today. He pissed away the entire Summer. Pelosi's House of Representatives delivered 3 bills BEFORE the Summer recess. Baucus held up the Senate so that all those stupid "townhalls" could help torpedo the President. He never had anything to begin with. He just wanted to drag it out to help it die.
Give me a blowhard jerk like Joe Wilson any day over a treacherous "friend" like Max Baucus.

3. What Joe Wilson did was a disgrace to the entire country |
|
Don't minimize his horrible behavior in any way. Incompetence is not the same thing as out and out denegration. Baucus is incompetent.

the resolution was POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING and a waste of fucking time.
If a DEM congressperson called a Republican president a LIAR in the same situation you HYPOCRITES would have chipped in and sent the offender flowers by now.

14. No, it really wasn't. |
|
I don't think this has ever, ever been done in the history of the country. There are only about ten House censures, total, for "Unparliamentary Language" and there hasn't been one since 1921. This is WAY out of line, the equivalent of telling Obama to go fuck himself. Seriously.

9. K&R - - Baucus & PSEUDO-"REFORM" CORPORATISM are immeasurably more dangerous than loudmouth jerks. |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 10:44 AM by Faryn Balyncd
There is no comparison.
Such fools as Wilson actually damage their own side.
The damage done by Baucus to the cause of genuine reform (by shamelessly attempting to pass blatant CORPORATE WELFARE legislation as "reform") is unforgivable.

21. It's a shame that the disciples don't understand what you wrote. |
|
Baucus played Obama for a fool. That upsets the disciples who think that Obama has some master plan and foresaw all of this happening which is delusional. But that's how worshippers are.
Obama and our shot for truly comprehensive healthcare reform --- as advocated by The Nation Magazine, the AFL-CIO and life-long progressives who care less about elections and more about progress --- has now been compromised by a foolish belief that there would be bi-partisianship.
When the idiot, racist Republican shouted in Congress, what did we learn? Nothing. He's a friggin' Republican from South Carolina, what else do we need to know?
When Democrats string the President along, as Baucus did, luring him with the fantasy that the GOP will come his way, as Baucus did (and others), then that is far more damaging to us, or as you even said better than I "immeasurably more dangerous".
