2. That's a difficult committee |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 02:33 PM by Inuca
to get something decent voted out from :-(. Only 7 reliable votes in my count, maybe an 8th but I'll be darned if I know where Bingaman stands. How on earth did so many wishy-washy dems managed to get in the same (very important) committee?
Edited to add that the Marcus article you link to (the Wyden statement) is very interesting.

3. Bill Nelson sent out an email today that sounds like he supports it |
|
although he "intends to offer several amendments" (probably none that make the bill better) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x8657107

4. 13 D's, 10 R's, Need 12 votes to pass bill, amendments |
|

12/23 > 50%
So it could be committee gets stuck if Conrad and Baucus insist on their bill-- that leaves 11 D's to offer more progressive legislation (and bill nelson/ blanch lincoln can't be counted on either, that leaves 9). I assume no R's will vote for anything.

6. With three Dems out, Health care reform is dead in committee |
|
Not a single Republican will vote for this.

7. They aren't "out." They just aren't going to vote for the bill in it's current form. |
