Obama: No Quick Decision on Afghan Troops

WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said Wednesday he won't make any quick decision about whether to boost troop levels in Afghanistan.

"(You) have to get the strategy right and then make the determinations about resources," Obama said during a media availability with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. "You don't make determinations about resources, and certainly you don't make determinations about sending young men and women into battle, without having absolute clarity about what the strategy's going to be."

"And so we are going to proceed and make sure that we don't put the cart before the horse," he said.
