The co-ops are dealt with, in fact, in a passing parenthetical remark:

(The proposed co-ops had very little effect on the estimates of total enrollment in the exchanges or federal costs because, as they are described in the specifications, they seem unlikely to establish a significant market presence in many areas of the country or to noticeably affect federal subsidy payments.)

The CBO confirms what liberal co-op critics have charged: That they will neither cover many people nor put downward pressure on costs, the two supposed benefits of the public option.

6. The CBO said much the same thing about the Puiblic Option (HR 3200).

According to the CBO, LESS than 10 million will be enrolled by 2019.
Obama confirmed this number in his speech last week.

The Public Option specified in HR 3200 will offer so little (or none) price advantage over the For Profit policies, that 3 out of 4 people forced to buy Health Insurance on "The Exchange" will prefer to buy policies from the For Profit Health Insurance Industry.

Obama was entirely correct when he called the Public Option in HR3200 a "tiny sliver".

Health Care Reform WILL be a $Trillion Dollar gift to the For Profit Health Insurance Industry.
That is beyond any real dispute.
We are being allowed to fight over the crumbs.
Never-the less, it is vitally important that we fight for the crumbs, or they will take it all.
