Poor Amanda Carpenter twisted herself in knots trying to explain why Obama is "over-exposed" |
|
On MSNBC just now they showed how the RWers at their "Values Summit" are reviving the "celebrity" charge for Obama, calling his upcoming "Full Ginsberg" "Celebrity Sunday."
Norah O'Donnell asked what it even MEANS to call him a "celebrity" for answering tough questions on NEWS shows like MTP, and what's wrong with answering questions instead of hiding and NOT answering questions. Carpenter replied that it's not GOOD for Obama because he can "mess up" by giving an answer that overshadows what he wants the headlines to be, like when he answered the Gates race question at a prime time press conference.
So now she's worried about Obama? She's concerned that he won't do well? THAT'S why they are calling him a "celebrity" again? These RWers sure are desperate in their attempts to smear Obama!

1. They don't believe the over exposure meme, they just hope the White House will believe it. |
|
They know that Obama's biggest weapon is HIMSELF.

11. And whenever he is out in public and answering tough questions, amazing things happen: |
|
He makes sense to people- even if they don't necessarily agree with him. He doesn't talk down to anybody and divide the country into "us and them". He comes across as genuinely intelligent and caring person. The most important thing is that the more people see of him the more people see that he is NOT the Hitler, Stalin, Peron, or whatever "creature" that wingnuts are constantly trying to make him out to be. All of which is why they don't want President Obama on TV and/or out meeting with people all the time. It's obviously much easier to caricature somebody when nobody sees much of them.

18. THAT's exactly what they're afraid of - and the reason (R)s are limited to sound bites. |
|
Put a Winger on one of those shows for an in-depth interview, and they will come off as arrogant, uninformed on the issues at hand and callous regarding the needs of "Teh Peoples".
It would make a great series of interviews for Rachel Maddow - fifteen minutes of "The Best of the Republican Leadership" running for ten days or so. Of course she'd have to pre-tape all the interviews. Once upper management realized how much damage the first couple of interviews were doing to their fragile reputation, they'd ensure all forthcoming interviews were canceled.
Our President knows his shit and that's terrifying to the party of "NO" and their propaganda wing.

7. It's when you do all 5 Sunday shows in one day: |
|
"named for William H. Ginsberg, attorney for Monica Lewinsky during the sex scandal in the Clinton administration. In February 1998, he became the first person to do all five talk shows."

4. They don't want him on the teevee because it HELPS him. |
|
So they try to tell us it HURTS him. But we're not stupid.
Just look at how much shifted in the last week since his speech on healthcare!

5. Could it be that the Republicans understand Obama does well in these |
|
appearances and it is not in their best interest to have him seen too often.
Or are they afraid their fringe element(and I do hope it is a fringe element of their party)has a problem with seeing Obama in the WH?? A pander to the fringe
I hope it is first rather than second explanation.

12. I thought I caught her almost laughing at herself. |
|
It is clear that "overexposure" is the meme for combatting Obama's public relations blitz. If they truly thought that overexposure was a likely outcome, they would just sit back and let it happen. I just can't quite figure out what they're hoping to gain by criticizing in this vein. Nothing new, I can rarely understand their tactics.
Except that I am beginning to notice that they tend to be copycats. I recognize echoes of our disenfranchised past when I watch their festivities, and I think those similarities are not accidental.
