Curd May Run In U.S. House Race
When it comes to the 2010 election, one might think that U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin might show up on the invincible list.

So far, the Brookings Democrat is getting high marks from political observers, and back home she has grown stronger with political tests.

South Dakota Republicans are not willing to sit this one out, though. If everything goes right, they think Herseth Sandlin might be vulnerable next November.

That belief might be seen in the growing list of possible Republican contenders.

In recent days, state Rep. Dr. Blake Curd of Sioux Falls has shown up on that list, having spread the word that he is a possible player in the race for his party's nomination for U.S. House.

At this point, it would be no surprise if most of the state's voters still support Herseth Sandlin as their candidate. Herseth Sandlin has said that she will seek re-election.

Joel Rosenthal, former state Republican Party chairman, said that three months ago he didn't think anyone would have a chance to defeat Herseth Sandlin.
