You Know, Under Stephanopoulos's Logic, The Speed Limit Is A Type of Tax

It is mandated, and because of the speed limit, I get to work each day about 1/2 hour later than I would have if I was able to just floor it, which costs me my hourly rate. So, I hearby demand that we get rid of these taxes, and abolish urban speed limits.

4. Don't be ridiculous

It doesn't cost you anything to drive at the speed limit. It DOES cost you something to purchase health insurance.

"Mandated" health insurance is a stupid idea that could only have been thought up by our current crop of cowardly Democrats. The idea is that everyone must share the cost, which is why we cannot allow anyone to opt out, while trying for some reason to maintain the free market approach to health care rather than simply doing away with it and going single payer. Single payer accomplishes the same thing by using taxes (horrors!) which apply to everyone to pay for that same universal coverage, though SP also allows the govt to negotiate lower prices by weight of being the only game in town. Lower on everything, from checkups to MRI's to prescription drugs, whereas "mandated" insurance does none of that. We are kowtowing to Republicans that will never be happy no matter what we do and proposing a solution that doesn't solve anything but does piss a lot of people off.
