13. why go slow: once it's decided either way, the checks from insurance industry will slow down
Right now an Indy 500 of corruption is going on.

14. My mom's bought into this one too and repeated it to me at dinner a week ago
My response was pretty much along the same lines as yours. Whenever I hear Obama talk about what he is proposing, there is really nothing in any of the proposals that seem that *radical* (which can be looked at two ways) and most of them are just plain commonsense- things that we really should've had in place a LONG time ago IMHO. Of course, the RW and the people they manage to hoodwink, seem to think that there is a *conspiracy* to harm them in some way buried deep within just about everything that Obama, or Democrats in general, propose.

It is stunning that the first 4 people are all against what we want - Baucus, Grassley, Conrad, Hatch - but I think Rockefeller is next.

6. Nice conclusion -
He spoke of Ted Kennedy saying there were many (10 - 12??) ways to do healthcare, you need to determine where you want to land. Kerry said that fixing this is a moral and social justice issue.

9. Wyden's statement was strong.
Emphasized need for "real reform" and taking on industry and defenders of status quo.

10. Maria Cantwell gives big endorsement to the PO
simply subsidizing insurance companies will not lower the cost for American people there needs to be a public option. So far all Dems except Rockefeller and Lincoln have given statements on the the GOP side Roberts and Cornyn remain. The GOP statements can be summarized as government takeover, it cost too much, it's going too fast, government takeover.

11. They are done now - but I just checked on C-Span website -
sounds like they will start up again a 2:45 ET on C-Span 3. I am assuming that this will be when they start with the amendments.

Kicking this for those who might like to watch it.
