Buddy Rogers to Formally Announce for U.S. Senate on Tuesday

Rogers, a financial adviser from Rogers, will officially announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate seat currently held by Blanche Lincoln on Tuesday. Rogers has a press conference planned for tomorrow at 11:00 in Rogers at Café Baristo to make the announcement.

In an interesting inside baseball angle, Benton County Judge and former State Senator Dave Bisbee will introduce Rogers. Bisbee has a history with State Sen. Gilbert Baker who is currently considered one of the front runners for the U.S. Senate Republican Primary. Bisbee and his supporters blame Baker for costing Bisbee the State Senate Pro Tem position in 2006 in a deal Baker supposedly made with a group of conservative Democrats.

Bisbee’s support could carry a lot of weight in the all important Northwest Arkansas for the Republican Primary. Does his introduction mean that he will be supporting Rogers or can we expect Bisbee to announce his candidacy in a few weeks?
