Charlie Diradour was born in Richmond in 1964. His parents were working folks. His mother a clerk for the The Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, his father a restaurant owner. After attending local schools and college, Charlie went to work. His first real estate purchases were investments in Richmond’s Fan District. Over the years Charlie has accumulated properties and built commercial developments all throughout the Richmond metropolitan area.
Married to Dr. Ann Ritter, a pediatric neurosurgeon, Charlie and Ann have two girls, Cannon and Madelyn.
Charlie is an activist at heart. Having volunteered on many state and national campaigns, he has always had a yearning to have a hand in creating a community where people count. Charlie believes that for us to be the best as a nation we must treat one another with respect. As an active member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Charlie has mentored Acolytes, chaired The Jazz Lunch Series, and now sits on the vestry. He also is on the board of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.
When there was a need to build coalition around keeping The Boulevard, one of Richmond’s gateways, viable as a place to work, play, and live, he did it with conviction and determination. Through respectful discourse and debate, Charlie and his supporters were able to create consensus and ultimately achieve a goal that many agreed was the right thing to do.
http://charlieforthe7th.com/about/There isn't much on where this guy stands on many issues, but he's a native son and might be able to give Cantor a run for his money.....which has never really happened before.
I'll be curious to see what he has to say about issues/policy.
FWIW, I got this off of Joe Trippi's Twitter feed....not a bad endorsement!
