I think the Republic is lost
Last week there were posts regarding Rupert and his influence in Australia and another great one questioning if the US is too divided to reunite.

After watching thirty minutes of Hannity hate followed by Bill Bennett on Anderson 360 complete with quotes from Bolten, I have gone to the dark side. Lead by the Republicans and Corporate interests this Country is on the edge of a cliff and the media is pushing. They can not and will not accept losing elections, some have no understanding of the Constitution while others use it as a tool to divide.

It will be a constant theme, rip into whatever the Democrats do no matter how hypocritical, until they can depress enough voters to win back power and continue the same failed policies which only serve their interests.

2. and they will create a permanent 38% minority

the young, minorities, independents, educated, people outside of rural and sourther enclaves, couldn't care less about this shit.

In a country of 300 million, how many people watch Beck, Hannity, and OReilly? Not even 2%

4. Usually I agree but...
an uniformed public plays into Republican tactics.

When CNN allows Bennett to go off unchecked and then puts up quotes from Bolton, without the context of, "these guys are wrong 90+% of the time then it becomes a much bigger issue. I saw it with Rummy with the lead up to Iraq, he could get out there and confidently make statements and the American Public sucked it in. Add that to the fact the a lot of liberals will jump in on the bashing and you have a demotivated and uniformed electorate.

It is not a new tactic, it was used against Clinton, and is just amplified for Obama. My concern is Obama has inherited the issues to date and the right has conveniently forgot that fact and some on the left want every campaign promise fulfilled NOW.

O.K. I have talked myself in from the ledge, but everyone needs to be prepared to work a helluva a lot harder than ever.

12. People might be uninformed but they are not stupid

I go by the little bunch of widows on our street, all Republicans in their mature years and they like and trust the President.

They have gotten tired of OReilly and have never liked Beck.

Today one of them told me how impressed she was about that nice Mr. Moore who appeared on Larry King.

Its like the Health Care debate. People may not like the solution the Democrats come up with but people absolutely hate their insurance company and they know the Republicans are just fronting for them.

14. Good to hear
I am in the OC in the shadows of Saddleback and some of the comments I get from friends just blow me away. In between gigs so too much TV doesn't help either.

15. From your lips to God's ears....
However I hear from old ladies who watch Fox.

BTW, I cannot believe the recent Gallup poll which alleges 80% of people are satified with their health care insurance. What planet did that come from?

16. well most people are not currently
asking for 6 figures from their insurance companies. As long as you don't cost them significant money, they don't really bother you. Hey, you're profitable. It's when you become very sick and start costing them big bucks that they become hostile.

5. If all it takes to beat us is to make us feel a little depressed,
then we don't deserve to win. Yes, the Republicans are fucking traitorous assholes, and no, they're not going to stop. That only leaves us with one option. Since they won't stop on their own, it's up to us to stop them and, in so doing, save this country. I say to hell with bipartisanship and to hell with Republicans! Democrats need to quit trying to appease them and instead pull out all the stops. Just like the Nazis, that goddamned party needs to die.

7. Take heart in the fact that the Conservatives are aging
and the Progressives have the youths of America. Eventually, they will age themselves right off the game board. It is inevitable.

8. You'll be ok, rufus dog. Just stay away from the remote for a while. Go buy some ammo
and water and canned food. Read only the good posts on DU. Think good thoughts.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

10. I Felt The Exact Same Way In 2000 & 2004
Don't let cable news get you down. Nobody watches it nor pays any attention to it. All of the polls clearly show that the American people loathe the Republican party. They have no real leadership, and they are years away from ever re-taking power.

Buck up and have faith. The economy will rebound next year, and the Dems will hold onto their power in the mid-terms. We are embarking on a new progressive era.

13. media reform now
until the dems hold Murdoch accountable for using the public airwaves in a manner that is not in the public interest (and this should be expanded to cable news outlets), this problem won't go away

FDR cracked down on father Coughlin. It's time to treat the asshats of rw media the same way.
